Chapter 1 Getting Married In A Rush
- Reaman's weather in August was hot and dry.
- At the marriage registration counter at city hall.
- Amelia Bonham filled her information with a pen while a cold, dignified man stood beside her. He had an unusually grave demeanor. The staff couldn't help but take a second glance at him.
- "Isaac…" The girl's actions suddenly stopped. She turned to ask him. "What's your last name again?"
- The staff couldn't help but feel astonished when they heard it. "You don't know each other?"
- The man ignored their surprise. He took the pen from the girl's hand and bent down to write his name on the line. 'Isaac Marrow.'
- They signed their names, took pictures, and their certificate was stamped. They took their certificate after they went through the whole process.
- The two left the city hall.
- Isaac furrowed his thick brows and said indifferently, "I only married you because of Grandpa. Why are you willing to marry me?"
- "So I can have a companion when I grow old," Amelia said without thinking, "with my family situation, no one will be willing to marry me. I might have had to spend my final years alone."
- Such an honest answer was beyond what the man had expected, but he didn't say anything. "I'll pick you up to visit Grandpa in the afternoon."
- After that, he handed her a key and a keycard. "Unit 2801 of Block 88 in Blossom Towers. Move in with me as soon as possible."
- The girl looked at his thin lips moving. He wasn't friendly at all when he spoke.
- She had just reached out to take them when the man turned and left.
- Amelia looked at his tall figure and saw a car nearby, but she didn't know it was a Lamborghini.
- She didn't know Isaac's true identity either. Today was her first time meeting him.
- She married him in a rush to save herself.
- Amelia wasn't very close with Wilfred Marrow either, also known as Old Mr. Marrow. He was Isaac's grandfather. She had only met him twice. For some reason, he had his mind set on her.
- Amelia came to her senses when the Lamborghini sped away. She extended her hand to hail a cab.
- She felt solemn as she sat in the backseat, and her thoughts couldn't help but drift…
- "Ronan Bonham! I'm utterly disappointed in you! Our son is about to sit for his SATs. How much have you lost while playing cards? The moneylenders went to his school to look for him! He might get kicked out of school because of you, and his future will be destroyed!”
- “All you do is shout at me! Let’s get a divorce if you’re unhappy! It’s not too late to leave! You can take our son! You can raise him and care for him yourself!"
- "Don't think I don't want a divorce! I've been enduring for the sake of Cayden! I'll divorce you at once when he gets into college! I would rather beg than hope for you to give me any money! I did it so my son could have a complete family, but he has a miserable life instead… Boo hoo…"
- Her parents had a big argument again this morning.
- Her mother was hysterical with despair after the moneylenders had taken away the only television left at home.
- None of this overwhelmed Amelia. What really devastated her was the call she had unintentionally overheard…
- Her father, addicted to gambling, wanted to sell her off for two hundred thousand!
- He wanted to force her to marry a local tyrant in town!
- Therefore, Amelia agreed to Old Mr. Marrow's request and got married in a rush today.
- Old Mr. Marrow had said that his beloved grandson had a house, a car, a stable job, and no bad habits. He hoped that she would consider his grandson.
- The cab headed toward Birmont…
- Amelia came to her senses. She took out her cell phone to call her mother. "Mom, pack your luggage. I'm coming to pick you up now. Move out today."
- "Amelia, don't come…"
- Before her mother could finish speaking, the busy dial tone rang at the next second. Her mother's cell phone had clearly been snatched.
- "Mom! Hello? Mom!" Amelia panicked as she held her cell phone. She urged to driver to speed up.
