Chapter 5 Her Future Home

  • "Mom, he's a good person. He sent someone to pick you up." Amelia kept her marriage certificate calmly. "You don't have to worry about me. Take care of Cayden. I'm already an adult."
  • "Amelia…" Juliana had complicated feelings. She held Amelia's hands with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry for making you suffer in this family."
  • "It's in the past. I don't regret anything." The kind girl promised her mom. "Don't worry. I'll take care of you until your old age. As long as I can care for myself, I'll care for you and Cay too!"
  • Juliana felt extremely gratified yet grieved. She turned to hug her adopted daughter tightly.
  • Amelia consoled her. After a while, Amelia opened a big suitcase and packed her belongings.
  • "Are you really going to move in with this Mr. Marrow?"
  • "Mm." The girl moved swiftly, and her tone was relaxed. "Don't we have to live together once we get married? He really treats me well, and his grandfather likes me."
  • "Lia!" The middle-aged woman was filled with worry. "Is the man really reliable? What are his qualifications? Does he have any bad habits? No matter what it is, you have to check him out, right? Don't you have to scope him out?"
  • "He's worth trusting based on how he saved you and me today." Amelia stuffed all her clothes into her luggage. She pulled the zipper forcefully and decided to trust Isaac.
  • Her tone was relaxed and pleasant so her mother wouldn't worry. She even had a happy smile on her face.
  • Juliana felt that her daughter would be happier with Mr. Marrow than staying with the Bonham family.
  • "Mom, don't ever get affected by Ronan. Take care of Cay. I've paid rent for a year, and I'll give you living expenses promptly every month."
  • "Lia, you must be happy." This was Juliana's biggest wish.
  • "Alright. Mom, I'm leaving!" Amelia dragged her luggage and was about to leave when something snapped. A wheel fell off.
  • Upon seeing it, Juliana immediately said, "Why don't you use another suitcase? This is broken."
  • "It's alright. I can carry it. I'll leave the good suitcase for you!"
  • She was afraid she couldn't make it. She carried her luggage and walked out as she turned to smile at her mother. She told her mother, "Take care of yourself! I'm leaving!"
  • Juliana held on to the doorframe and watched her daughter leave. She thought of what Amelia had said about taking care of her in her old age, and her eyes welled up. She felt very guilty.
  • After adopting Amelia, who had been separated from her family, they lived peacefully for half a year as Amelia attended kindergarten. Juliana foolishly married Ronan, and Amelia ended up suffering.
  • Amelia held the key and keycard that Isaac had given her as she looked at the landscape outside the car window obstructed by passing vehicles. She felt slightly at a loss about her future.
  • The man's cold and sharp demeanor and the combination of his elegance and indifference made her feel like she was at risk, even if they were just living together. She didn't dare to take it lightly.
  • The cab couldn't enter the upscale residential district and could only stop at the entrance.
  • Her suitcase's wheel was broken, so she couldn't drag it. Amelia could only carry it.
  • Her simple appearance and wretched state stood out like a sore thumb in the high-end surroundings, but she didn't care. She was filled with strength.
  • She took a lot of effort to carry her luggage into the elevator. She panted in exhaustion, but thankfully, she could take good care of herself.
  • After exiting the elevator on the twenty-eighth floor, she stopped before Unit 2801 and used the key to open the door.
  • The key iscorrect. It's here.
  • It was a spacious duplex apartment, and its two floors were around three hundred square meters each. Amelia estimated the total space to be more than five hundred square meters.
  • The apartment's color scheme was black, white, and gray. It was minimalistic and trendy. It was what young people liked at the moment.
  • Amelia walked around the house. She felt it wasn't very lively with how quiet and bare it was.
  • She couldn't find any signs of Isaac living here.
  • There wasn't even food or condiments in the kitchen.
  • She opened the refrigerator. It was empty as well.
  • Amelia couldn't help but furrow her brows. If she hadn't opened the door with the key, she would have suspected that she had walked into a commercial property's showroom.
  • But since this was her home in the future, there should be signs of someone living here.
  • She closed the refrigerator before taking her key and leaving.
