- “Don’t think like that,” Damien said softly, his hand gently cupping her cheek. “You’re not the same as the others. You’re not the same as your ancestors. You have something they didn’t—your heart. Your heart is what will guide you through this. You will break the curse, Elara. I believe in you.”
- His words, though filled with confidence, did little to settle the turmoil inside her. She wanted to believe him, wanted to trust that she could overcome the darkness, but doubt gnawed at her. There was a part of her that feared the power inside her—the power that had been dormant for so long—would eventually overpower her.
- Damien seemed to sense her unease. “You’re not alone in this,” he repeated, his voice steady. “You’re the Alpha’s mate, the Luna of the pack. And the Alpha’s mate is never alone. Not as long as I’m by your side.”
