Chapter 12
- The battle was swift, a blur of motion as Damien and the enemy wolf collided in the dark. Elara held her breath, watching in awe and horror as the two beasts fought with a ferocity that shook the ground beneath her feet. The sound of teeth and claws meeting flesh echoed through the forest, a terrible symphony of violence.
- Elara wanted to help. She wanted to do something, anything, to stop the fight. But she knew better than to get involved. She was no fighter. All she could do was watch—and pray that Damien would win.
- With a final, brutal snap, Damien’s wolf knocked the enemy wolf to the ground. He pinned it down with his powerful jaws, and Elara could hear the low growl of warning coming from Damien’s throat. The fight was over. The enemy wolf lay still, its amber eyes glazed over in defeat.
