- A howl echoed through the clearing, followed by a sickening thud. Elara’s heart dropped as she saw Damien’s body fall to the ground, his movements slowing as he was knocked off his feet by one of Lucien’s wolves. Her blood ran cold, and her breath caught in her throat.
- “NO!” she screamed, rushing toward him without a second thought.
- Damien’s form was still, his body half-covered in the blood of their enemies. But his chest was still rising and falling. He was alive. Barely.
