• A resounding knock reverberated throughout the room, catching Blade's attention. He immediately covered his mate, knowing that no one had the right to see her body without permission, except him. He couldn't bear the thought of anyone laying eyes on his injured mate. "Come in," Blade said, and the door swung open, revealing an elderly man with gray hair.
• "Vampire king, what happened to her?" Doctor Roberts inquired. Blade shrugged his shoulders, refusing to move from his spot beside his mate. "She was attacked by my enemies. Her wounds are severe, and I have no idea how long it will take for her to fully heal," Blade explained. He had made a conscious decision not to involve Isabella in his mate's treatment. He couldn't bring himself to call her, as he had no desire to request anything from the woman he considered a bitch when it came to his mate's well-being.
• "Understood," the doctor responded, sensing that it would be unwise to ask further questions. He knew that the king was not one for formalities or interrogations, so he opted to remain silent. It surprised him and the entire pack that the king displayed such kindness, protectiveness, and possessiveness towards his mate.
