Chapter 3 Drowning In Disgrace
- "Why hasn't Bella arrived yet to prepare the food for the full moon sacrifice? The grains for cooking are not ready. What has she been doing since I woke her up from her dreadful sleep?"
- An enraged woman exclaimed, her black hair flew wildly around her face as she spoke. She was furious because nothing had been accomplished that morning. The omega was supposed to assist the servants in preparing the pack's food. Although they were all servants, it was the omega's responsibility to wake up first, even before the others. Breakfast was not to be taken lightly in the pack; it held great significance.
- Just as the woman was about to say another word, two young girls with striking similarities to Bella entered the kitchen. The resemblance made it obvious that they were Bella's sisters, except they were not omegas nor were they wolfless. Bella seemed to be set apart from not only her sisters but also the entire Air Winder pack.
- "I saw a body lying in the storage room. I don't know if they're dead or alive, and I didn't have time to check who it belongs to," Kira explained as she walked towards the counter, a sketch in her hands.
- "What do you mean you don't know who the body belongs to?" Mrs. Manchor questioned, walking towards the door to look at her daughter.
- "You saw a body, but you can't confirm who it belongs to? What if it was Bella lying there—dead or in danger? We might all dislike her, but no one wants her dead," Bella's mother, driven by maternal instinct, expressed her fear. Despite Bella being an omega, her mother did not wish harm upon her. She rushed to the storage room and upon entering, she noticed a body crumpled on the floor, clothes torn in two. Quietly, she approached and accidentally kicked the body, which did not stir. She then kicked it harder, and this time Bella shifted, groaning in pain. Her eyes were filled with agony, overwhelmed by the torment assaulting her.
- Initially, Bella opened her eyes to darkness, making her ponder whether the alpha's son had transported her to the realm of the deceased. However, when she felt something striking her legs, her vision cleared. The first thing she saw was a woman's legs repetitively hitting her, as if she were lifeless. Upon looking up, Bella realized it was Envylin, her mother. Perhaps Envylin had returned to unleash her wrath upon Bella. In that moment, Bella wished she had never woken up and faced another round of torment. Death seemed preferable to what awaited her.
- "Why are you lurking down here, Bella? You came to hide so you wouldn't be caught, huh? You despicable child. You know how ashamed I am of you, yet you insist on provoking me during these early hours of the morning," Envylin scolded, seemingly unconcerned about her torn attire, which probably had been caused by a sexual encounter with a werewolf. The omega couldn't possibly be blameless in this, and the idea of a werewolf mating with Bella would be disgraceful if anyone were to find out.
- "Who did you have sex with, huh? I always knew you weren't a virgin, but engaging in such activities with just anyone is a great shame, especially at this early hour when you have important work to do," Envylin continued, observing her third daughter rise but then collapse onto the ground once more.
- Mrs. Manchor chuckled at the unfolding drama before her. The scene was quite comical, and she would have been highly embarrassed if there had been anyone else present in the room.
- "Hahahaha! Your legs are so weak that you can't even stand on them. Bella, who on earth must have pleasured you so intensely that you lost your balance?" Mrs. Manchor mocked, her face contorted with disgust. Bella watched her mother insult her heartlessly despite being the one who bore her in her womb. Bella knew she was an omega, and that was the reason why the entire pack despised her. Furthermore, not possessing a wolf only intensified the hatred. On her eighteenth birthday, during the full moon, all her peers had transformed into wolves while she remained unchanged. The laughter and insults she endured that day still echoed in her ears. Seeing her mother's disgusted expression caused her immense pain.
- "I'm sorry, mother, for causing you pain," Bella uttered, hoping her mother could perceive the anguish in her voice. However, as expected, she was met with more verbal abuse.
- "I am not your mother, you whore!" Envylin yelled furiously. "Now, get up off that floor and go to the kitchen. But before you do, change into different clothes so you don't bring further disgrace upon me." Envylin hissed as she stormed out of the storage room, forcefully slamming the door shut.
- Bella winced in pain, tightly shut her eyes, and listened to the deafening sound of the door. Eventually, summoning her strength, she stood up, relying on the wall for support. Slowly, she made her way to the door, unwilling to encounter Lucas, the beast who longed to defile her, nor did she desire to face the entire pack. Wasting no more energy, she cast a glance at her tattered clothes. The beast had torn them to shreds. Leaning her ear against the door, she strained to hear any voices or sounds from the other end of the hallway. Silence greeted her. Bella cautiously opened the door, glancing in both directions. Seeing no one, she slipped out of the room, quickly hurrying towards her dungeon-like bedroom.
