Chapter 26 Cunning Escape
- She slowly walked towards the door, taking her time to fix her hair. She refused to be afraid of him, or any of the guards or men she might encounter on her way out. Lucas had convinced her that all men were crazy and dangerous towards women, and unfortunately, she had fallen into his trap. It wasn't entirely her fault; he had manipulated her with his beliefs, which seemed absurd to her at first, but after what happened 2 nights ago... Her breath caught as she tried to push away the memories she desperately wanted to forget. It was impossible not to think about being raped, abused, and then rejected by the same person who was supposed to be her mate and cherish her. Running away was all she wanted to do, away from this place, away from the entire pack that might come looking for her. Perhaps she would even run until death itself claimed her. Taking a slow breath, she shook her head to rid herself of those disturbing thoughts that threatened to ruin her mission.
- "No," she whispered, determined not to let Lucas ruin her plans. She refused to let him control her with the terrible things he had done to her. She would get stronger and seek revenge against him and the entire Air Winder pack. The pack that had once been her identity was now turning her into someone evil. They would soon feel her wrath, and staying there was definitely not the right decision.
- Her heart tightened as she remembered a man with dark, thick hair and deep, black eyes. An unknown feeling washed over her, causing the hairs on her body to stand on end. The vampire king, as she had come to know him, was dividing her thoughts. He would invade her dreams, but whenever he did, he would save her from Lucas, her worst enemy. She shook her head again, realizing that these two men were vying for space in her mind and threatening to ruin her already established plans. She would not allow Lucas, whom she despised, and the vampire king, whom she feared due to some unknown allure, to simultaneously destroy her life.
