Chapter 21 Awakening Fear And Unveiled Secrets

• Bella took another look around the room, feeling grateful that the vampire had given her some time to adjust to her new surroundings. But the memories of what happened the previous night kept flooding back, hitting her like a wave. Discovering that Lucas was her mate, the terrible assault, his rejection, her escape from the pack, and the attack by her own pack members who appeared like rogues confused her. The intruders initially smelled like her pack, but when they entered vampire territory, they had the scent of rogues. Even though she couldn't see their faces clearly during the attack, she was certain they were her pack members. They belonged to the same pack, so why would they attack her on vampire land? It was forbidden for any creature to enter another creature's territory without permission, so she wondered why they hadn't killed her yet.
• The door opening startled Bella, causing her to back away against the wall. A man in a white coat approached her, the doctor assigned to examine her. Each step he took seemed to change his appearance, blurring at first and then becoming clear. Suddenly, the doctor transformed into Lucas and his words turned into laughter. Bella couldn't help but let out a loud scream and pushed herself against the headboard. Another scream escaped when Lucas advanced towards her. The door swung open with a force, revealing a figure moving towards her. Her eyes were heavy and blurry, making it difficult to see who it was. All she could determine was that it seemed like a man. Bella managed to let out another weak scream before succumbing to darkness, her mind unable to process the fact that Lucas had been in the room with her.
• "What happened to her? What did you do to her?" Blade shouted, glaring at the shocked doctor. He had heard Bella's screams from his office and hurried to her room, his heightened senses picking up on her distress.
