Chapter 75
- The next day, when Daniel arrived, my father greeted him formally, but their faces reflected calmness rather than anger. They entered my father’s office and stayed there for a long time. I was nervous, to tell the truth. Then the door opened, and they both came out, this time with smiles, as in the old times. My father told me that I could go with Daniel whenever I wanted, but he would like to spend a few days as father and daughter before taking that step of adulthood and commitment. Daniel agreed with the idea of living together; it was something we both wanted, so we would have more time to get to know each other intimately. My father asked me if I wanted to continue studying, and I said yes; I loved my career. He seemed relieved and informed me that he would continue to pay for my studies, as my mother had left me a university fund; it had been her will and must be fulfilled.
- “I have to go; we’ll talk later,” Daniel said, approaching.
- He gave me a light kiss on the lips. I felt a little embarrassed that he had done it in front of my father, but he seemed to agree with that too. Daniel left, and I stayed with my father.
