• Mila struggled to get up, feeling her way to the door to orient herself, but she knew that if she knocked on it again, she would only anger Nico enough for him to hit her.
• The rain that was falling was torrential, and she was freezing. She felt the cold in her bones and had no idea where to go or what to do.
