Chapter 30 Escaping From Reality

Oliver thought the man would argue with him, but instead, sadness and pain reflected in his eyes as he lowered his head, holding it in his hands.
"I know! I don't deserve her... maybe I never deserved her because I couldn't understand her, because I didn't fight for her... because this time, I should have asked for explanations... maybe I never believed in her love... now look at her, completely oblivious to everything that pities her, because of me, because of a hatred that overwhelmed me and turned me into a cruel man... and surely when she recovers, the person she'll least want to see is me... it doesn't matter, I'll accept her wishes... right now, all I want is to see her healthy, smiling, happy, even if she hates me, even if she doesn't want to see me... I just want her mental stability... I would give everything for her to become a healthy woman again, without fears, and above all, to regain everything that has been taken from her."
Upon hearing the man's words, Oliver had nothing to say. At first, he thought maybe the man would confront him, argue and justify his behavior, but he never expected him to admit his mistake and even think that way about himself.
