Chapter 17 Unleashing The Beast

  • The evening air was thick with anticipation, and as I looked out at the city lights from the twin’s apartment, I could feel my world expanding with each new piece of information they shared. Grey and Blue had given me glimpses into a reality that I hadn’t even known existed—a world ruled by their family, the Lycan royals, who held sway over every werewolf pack, including my own. This revelation left me speechless.
  • “So… you’re saying that even my old pack answers to your family?” I asked, trying to process the idea.
  • Grey nodded, his gaze serious. “Yes. All werewolves answer to the Lycan royals, Amelia. While packs have their own hierarchy, they ultimately answer to us. That’s why we’re here. We may seem like we’re just… on vacation, but we’re never truly disconnected from our responsibilities.”
  • I stared at them, struggling to grasp the magnitude of their world. The idea of such power and autonomy was staggering. “And Lycans don’t have packs?” I asked. “I always thought... well, I thought everyone had to have a pack.”
  • Blue chuckled, leaning back in his chair. “No, we don’t need packs. Lycans don’t need to live by the same rules. We live independently, bound by loyalty to our family, the Lycan royals, and to each other. It’s a different kind of unity—more like a close-knit family than a structured pack.”
  • I tried to imagine a life without a pack, a life where freedom wasn’t a concept tied to abandonment or banishment. The idea felt strange but liberating. “So, a Lycan can just… go wherever they want?”
  • Grey nodded. “Precisely. That’s why we’re here, in the human city. We have the freedom to travel and explore as we wish.”
  • A spark of wonder stirred in me. “That sounds… incredible. I didn’t know any of this. My mother never told me anything about the Lycan world.”
  • The twins exchanged a glance that was more than a little unsettling. I could sense there was something else they wanted to say. Grey took a deep breath, his eyes locking onto mine with a fierce intensity. “Amelia… there’s something we need to tell you. We’ve both felt something strange ever since we met you, something powerful. It’s almost like we’re sensing Lycan energy from you.”
  • I stared at him, the weight of his words sinking into me like cold water. “What?” I whispered, shaking my head. “That’s impossible. I’m just a werewolf. Both of my parents were werewolves.”
  • Blue’s gaze was steady, his voice calm but firm. “Are you sure about that? Think, Amelia. Have you ever felt something… different, something that didn’t quite fit with the life of a werewolf?”
  • I thought back to all the times I’d felt like an outsider in my own pack, the times I’d felt as though there was a part of me I couldn’t reach. But I’d always chalked it up to my lack of connection, my feeling of abandonment. “No… I don’t know,” I stammered, my voice wavering. “I mean, I’ve never even shifted. I’m eighteen, and I still haven’t transformed.”
  • Blue leaned forward, a hint of excitement in his eyes. “That’s exactly what we’re talking about. Lycans don’t shift in the same way werewolves do. Our first transformation usually happens between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one. And it isn’t something we can control. It requires the presence of the moon, a kind of… permission, if you will, from the forces that bind us.”
  • My head was spinning, and I felt a rush of emotions—hope, fear, disbelief. “So… you’re saying that I might be… a Lycan?”
  • Grey’s hand reached out, resting on my shoulder. “Yes, Amelia. We believe you are. And tonight, with the full moon, we want to help you shift. We’ll be here with you, every step of the way.”
  • I looked into their faces, searching for any hint of doubt or insincerity, but all I saw was encouragement and warmth. “I… I don’t know if I can,” I whispered. “What if I fail? What if I’m not… what you think I am?”
  • Blue squeezed my hand reassuringly. “If you trust us, if you trust yourself, you won’t fail. This isn’t something you have to do alone. We’ll guide you.”
  • I took a deep breath, gathering my courage. “Alright. Let’s do this.”
  • ---
  • Later, under the cover of darkness, we drove out of the city, far from any prying eyes. The moon hung high in the sky, glowing with a brightness that seemed almost otherworldly. Its light bathed the forest in silver, illuminating everything around us as we stopped in a clearing.
  • I felt a chill run through me, a strange energy building inside as I looked up at the moon, my heart pounding. Grey and Blue stood beside me, their presence steadying me as I tried to calm my racing thoughts.
  • “Amelia,” Blue’s voice was gentle, drawing me out of my thoughts. “Close your eyes. Focus on the moon’s energy. Let it fill you, let it guide you.”
  • I did as he said, closing my eyes, feeling the cool breeze against my skin. I took a deep breath, letting it out slowly, allowing myself to sink into the silence. The world around me faded away, leaving only the steady pull of the moon, its power weaving into my very being.
  • Then, I heard a voice, soft and warm, echoing in my mind. I’m here, Amelia. Let me in. Trust yourself. Trust me.
  • The voice was feminine, filled with an ancient wisdom that sent a shiver down my spine. I felt something stir inside me, a warmth that grew until it was almost too much to bear. Pain rippled through my body, sharp and sudden, and I gasped, doubling over as it intensified.
  • “It’s okay, Amelia,” Grey’s voice murmured close to my ear, grounding me as I fought through the pain. “Let it happen. You’re not alone.”
  • I screamed as the pain tore through me, feeling my bones shift, my skin ripple with the force of the transformation. But there was a strange sense of release beneath the agony, a freedom that beckoned me forward.
  • And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the pain eased, and I opened my eyes. The world looked different, sharper and more vibrant. I could feel every detail around me, hear the rustling of leaves, the distant call of animals, the heartbeat of the twins beside me.
  • Grey and Blue were staring at me, their eyes wide with awe. “Amelia… your fur…” Blue’s voice was barely above a whisper.
  • I looked down, catching sight of my reflection in a nearby pool of water. Red. My fur was a deep, fiery red, unlike anything I’d ever seen. The shock of it hit me, but something else was stirring in my mind—a presence, warm and familiar.
  • Finally, we meet, the voice murmured, a gentle laugh echoing in my thoughts. I’m Lily, your Lycan form. I’ve waited a long time for this moment, Amelia.
  • Tears prickled at the edges of my eyes, a mix of disbelief and joy filling me. I thought… I thought I was just a werewolf, I whispered back, feeling the truth settle over me like a comforting embrace.
  • You were always more than that, Lily replied, her voice soothing. You’ve always been more.
  • I ran through the forest, feeling the strength of my limbs, the power in every stride. Grey and Blue watched me, their expressions a blend of pride and admiration as they ran beside me. For the first time, I felt free, unbound by the limitations that had weighed on me my entire life.
  • As the night wore on, I slowed to a stop, looking back at Grey and Blue, my heart full. They had given me this—this freedom, this truth about who I was.
  • “Thank you,” I said, my voice barely a whisper but filled with all the gratitude I couldn’t put into words.
  • Grey smiled, stepping forward to place a hand on my shoulder. “Welcome home, Amelia.”
  • In that moment, I realized that everything I had ever needed, everything I had ever wanted, was right here. For the first time, I felt whole, truly and compl
