Chapter 19 Ghazi Needed More
- It started as one of those perfect days. Robyn was busy micro-managing my office workload while I was scheduled for a field day with cousin Zal. A new shipment of heavy machinery for the city's newest construction project had just arrived. We were hands in monopolizing the building site for the new office towers which were part of our beloved mayor's pet project.
- I made sure that all companies that were contracted in the building site project goes through us. This was the lucrative part of the cartel business, not the illegal drugs and weapons. When other crime syndicate families dwell on the shadier side of the business, I had managed to steer our family's interest when I unexpectedly stumbled on the opportunity and dabbled just before I took over as the head of the family after my parents' disappearance. Since then I had been digging deep into development projects, building networks, shoving and placing our contractors, and making sure that I lined the pockets of the right corrupted influential people.
- We're talking millions in commissions alone in government and private projects while making sure that the right people will be enjoying their kickbacks. And with the big money came the big responsibilities. We have to make sure that all of the appointed contractors were playing by our rules. With the kind of epic proportion jobs we're giving them, we made sure that all our contractors abide by our terms.
