Chapter 3

  • I can’t trust my eyes right now. Jason has a daughter, and he didn’t think about mentioning her to me.
  • And am I the only person unaware of this information? Does my dad know about it, or is he too doesn’t know of this?
  • I never thought that the ruthless businessman people talk about being a loving father.
  • The way his face enlightens seeing his daughter running towards him, right into his arms. Jason’s face and his smile show how much he loves and cares for his daughter. The love I see in Jason’s eyes now, growing up, I have always seen the same looks on my father whenever he was with me. No matter how stressed he was or how hard his day was, his love for me never changed. Even in his sadness, he smiled, so I smiled, looking at him. I don’t think words are to describe the love my father had for me.
  • However, today I saw discomfort, regret, and sadness in his eyes. It never crossed my mind that my decision to marry Jason can cause my dad so much grief. The marriage that I agreed to was for my dad’s happiness, but it became the reason for his sorrows. However, it was too late to change my decision. I just want my dad to be peaceful.
  • Hope is everything I’ve got, hope that my father won’t be unhappy; hope Jason keeps his promise to give back all my father’s possessions he owned, and hope that he never disturbs my dad’s peaceful life. And I hope every hope I have comes true.
  • I signed, fearing that all my hope-filled thoughts were crushed. But all my thoughts were disrupted as I felt something clinging around my legs. I looked down and surprised at how Jason’s daughter had her limbs wrapped around my legs, holding me in her arms.
  • I bent over, reaching eye level with Jason’s daughter, and smiled, not wanting my sadness to affect her. She’s innocent, and just because I have an issue with her dad doesn’t mean it’s her fault. “Hello,” I said, “What’s your name?”
  • However, she does not answer my question and stares at me vaguely. Biting her fingernails in her mouth, Jason’s daughter said something that stunned all my insights. “Mommy......,” What?
  • And before I could ask her the reason, she called me ‘Mommy.’ Two arms came and possessed her that belonged to no one other than Jason himself, holding his daughter in his arms as he took her away from me.
  • “I left her for a few minutes, and you started using your magic on her too,” Jason stared at me with a fierce grimace. Before I could say anything in my favor, he departed, carrying his daughter in his arms as I stood there with my mouth open, not understanding a single word of what he was talking about.
  • Great at first, Jason was annoying, and now he’s confusing as well. He alone knows what he is saying or what his words mean. The worst part is, Jason left me alone in front of his house. Doesn’t he have a sense of hospitality for anybody, or perhaps I’m the only one who is getting his special attention?
  • “Mrs. Gray,” A voice called me from my back.
  • I looked back and saw a gigantic man with eyes covered in sunglasses, wearing a charcoal suit paired with a crisp white shirt. Standing beside me, carrying my bags in his hands.
  • “Sorry, are you talking with me?” I questioned, pointing my index finger towards me.
  • “Yes.” The person in front of me nodded. “Allow me to introduce myself first____ I’m David.”
  • “Nice to meet you, David. I’m Kiera.” I said politely, introducing myself.
  • “Nice to meet you, Mrs. Gray.”
  • “You call me Kiera,” David said, nodding his head and asking me to follow him inside Jason’s home.
  • I don’t know why? But whenever he calls me Mrs. Gray, it frustrates me, reminding me that henceforth even my name has changed because of Jason.
  • “Hello David, Miss Gray,” said a woman old enough to be my mother standing in front of me, cheerfully.
  • “Nice to meet you,” I said with a smile.
  • “Nice to meet you too,”
  • I turned my head around the room, looking at the space surrounding where I am now, and I sighed happily, pleased not to find Jason nearby.
  • “Looking for Mr. Gray,” A hand touched my shoulder, redirecting my attention.
  • “NO…. absolutely not,” I acknowledged hastily, startled at how she’s able to read my thoughts.
  • “Don’t worry, my dear, your secret is safe with me,” Mrs. Clinton said, grinning enthusiastically. I have to say she is a very cheerful and charming woman. “Oh my God, I was so excited to meet you, I forgot to introduce myself. Elena Clinton, but you can call me Mrs. Clinton,”
  • I can’t resist but smile at her sweet nature. And nod to her words.
  • “Mrs. Clinton………”
  • “My Dear….. I was so excited to meet you. I forget to acknowledge that you must be exhausted and want to rest. But look at the way I’ve kept you busy here with me.”
  • “No, I’m fine.”
  • “Nope, let's take you to your room, where you can freshen up, and I will bring something for you to eat.”
  • “Mrs. Clinton….. I,”
  • “Come with me,” Mrs. Clinton cut my words as she took my hand, taking me towards the bedroom.
  • David followed us from behind with my luggage, and Mrs. Clinton, continuing talking. Even though it’s only been a few minutes of me being here, Mrs. Clinton and her non-stop talking and charming smile made me so happy.
  • While I was in the car with Jason, it concerned me of how I will live here with not just the person who is a complete stranger unto me, but hate me sorely.
  • But meeting Mrs. Clinton, I think my life will be less miserable than I thought it to be.
  • “Here we are,” said Mrs. Clinton, showing me the room. “Here is the bathroom,” she pointed her finger, informing me.
  • “Thank you,” I said, hugging her tightly.
  • “You're welcome, my dear, and call me if you need anything. Okay.” I nodded my head at her words with a smile on my face.
  • Mrs. Clinton smiled before making her way out of the room, closing the door on her way.

  • Whereas I sat and continued to think about today’s events, but the more I mull, the more confused I find myself. And, to clear my head, I went to the bathroom to take a long shower. At first glance, the bathroom looks so sleek and dynamic, and I don’t know why. But I can’t have any other words for it because the bathroom itself is huge, like this house. Either way, I don’t care about the enormous bathroom. I want a hot shower and if it can provide me that, then Great!
  • Ignoring everything else, I walked into the showers, undressed, and took a shower.
  • But as I was getting out of the shower. I heard the bathroom door unlocked, and a man came in and observed my body from head to toe with lust in his eyes. It took a second for me to realize, my God, no, I’m naked here, and he’s looking at my right body, and this is when I screamed as loud as I could.
  • “Get out………….”
