Chapter 87
- My hands were shaking as I held the torn pictures when I heard the door unlock. My heart almost flew out of my chest and I moved as fast as I could to stand. Thinking of the worst-case scenario, I braced myself but then I perceived my mate’s scent and my shoulders relaxed. With the tension leaving my body, I felt like I could faint from the relief.
- “What’s the matter?” Valens was alarmed when he walked into the room to see me. I hadn’t known I was crying until he pulled out a handkerchief to wipe my face. “How did this happen?” He asked when he saw the ripped picture in my hands.
- “I don’t know,” I choked out. “Someone - there’s been a break-in and – and –“ I choked on my sob and buried my face in his chest.
