Chapter 38
- “Chantelle?” My mate’s voice pulled me out of a fitful sleep. When I opened my eyes, he was standing over me. “What is it?” He asked.
- “Valens,” I gasped, sitting up in bed. My heart trembled and the now familiar bitter taste on my tongue worsened. I reached out to him, craving a sense of security but my hand paused midway. He sat on my bed and pulled me into his thighs while I second-guessed myself.
- I buried my face in his chest and inhaled his scent, trying to get the knot around my chest to loosen. It felt like a tide of darkness was sweeping me away so I wrapped my hand around his neck and clung on.
