- Sitting in a meeting with corrupt old men while my mate went around without a mark made me itch. I made excuses for her because I could see she was not ready. I took to avoiding her because I felt how wary she had become of me. It may be fear induced by how cruelly I had killed her first mate or something else, something else I did not know, but it seemed Amethyst did not want our mate bond. I tugged at the button on my shirt.
- The urge to touch, to possess, to bury myself in her and never let her go – It slammed into me at odd hours of the day.
