Chapter 7
- Ember was lost for words at what she saw in front of her. Her heart pumped a little bit than it should as she scanned the young wolves lined up on a platform. She estimated their age ranges from thirteen to sixteen, so young but also very determined to learn how to combat and protect the realm. Her heart was filled with adoration for these young wolves because she was once like them. Though she really was not into fighting and self-defense before, she learned to love it since it will ensure the safety of the people of Devonlaire.
- “So, how do you like this place? I thought you might like it here since you are part of the King’s soldiers.” Solana crossed her arms in front of her chest as she looked at those young recruits with pride. We trained them and taught them how to be strong. Because we all know not werewolves were born with the ability to fight, some of them were omegas, but they are learning.” Solana explained.
- “Wow, this place is so beautiful. Where is this place? Is it outside of Bresmont?”
- Solana started to walk and Ember went with her. They reached the platform and could see the trainees more.
- “This is the secret training camp of Bresmont, though it is not really that secret anymore. In the old days, as they say, this place was sealed and only the elders and the king could enter there. It was where the recruits stay and train until they are ready and strong.”
- There were at least thirty young female werewolves on the platform and the male was on the other side, they wore the same color of uniform, green. In front of them were three men who were wearing the same uniform as Solana wore.
- “Who are they?” Ember pointed to those three men.
- “That’s Rudson, Craige, and Alex. They were members of the Delta Elite. They were in-charge of the second stage of training for the newbies.”
- Ember was amazed that Bresmont had this kind of training for future defenders of the district. From what she had observed from the recruits, they were really good, considering the fact that they were still young and still had so much more to learn.
- “Wow, I am lost for words. This is actually amazing.”
- They also had this kind of training camp in Devonlaire, but here was a little different since it was surrounded by nature. It is a really good place for training.
- “Yes, come. I will introduce you to the members of Delta Elite. Tanya, Hugh, Tracy, and Alex were here. The rest of them was with the Alpha.”
- Without any reservation, Solana took Ember’s hand and pulled her to a huge cabin, the largest among the rest. There were several cabins lined on the left side, which made Ember think that those were where the young recruits stay.
- Solana’s voice reverberated through the entire cabin the moment they enter inside.
- “Guys! Look who’s here with us?” She was like a giddy child who was excited to show her parents her score for the first time. “It’s Luna Ember!” Solana exclaimed.
- She roamed her eyes on the place. The cabin has this dark ambiance but Ember thought maybe it was the color of the curtains.
- They heard a loud thud upstairs, and before they could even utter a word, someone appeared in front of them.
- Ember wanted to hide in embarrassment when suddenly two huge, half-naked men emerged right in front of her. The other man had a toothbrush stuck inside his mouth while the other has bubbles in his head.
- She was speechless as she stared into the two huge hairy men in front of her.
- “What the fuck, Huhg? Alex!” Solana was also horrified. “The Luna is here! Why are you naked? For chrissake!”
- “Oh, shit! I’m so sorry!”
- “Oh, fuck!”
- The two men said in unison, and just as how fast they appeared in front of Ember, they were gone in an instant. Ember on the other hand still was not able to utter because of the shock. She didn’t expect that.
- “I’m so sorry, Luna. I shouldn’t have brought you here.” Solana eyed her apologetically. Her face was red from the embarrassment.
- “No, that’s fine. Believe me, I’ve seen worst and way better.” Ember waved her hand to dismiss the issue. That’s not a big deal, actually. She was just shocked to see them appear like that in front of her.
- She’s used to seeing half-naked men, especially with her line of work. She was practically surrounded by men ever since she was little. Her mom died early, and she was raised by her father and uncles, not to mention her male cousins who were her constant playmate when she was still a child.
- But all of them were gone now. What was left was her father and her two cousins back in Devonlaire. For some reason, there was constant death in their family in past years.
- Solana brought her to the mini living room. Ember scanned the house. The cabin looks old but she’s sure they have renovated this one. The windows were opened making the fresh air enter.
- Werewolves were nature lovers. It’s in their nature to love forests, trees, and fresh air. And Ember thought this camp was perfect to hone the best warriors for Bresmont.
- She sat on the single plush couch while Solana opted to sit opposite her. A huge flat-screen television was mounted on the wall. There’s a wall lamp on each side of the television which made it look odd, but Ember ignored it.
- “Tanya! Luna Ember, this is Tanya, she’s also a member of the Delta Elite. She’s the third in command after Aron.”
- Ember immediately sensed the discomfort and disapproval of the woman in front of her. When Ember looked into her pitch-black eyes, she knew the woman didn’t like her. She didn’t even greet her, considering that she was just elected as the Luna.
- Tanya just stared at Ember for a few seconds before heading back inside the kitchen.
- “Don’t mind her, she’s actually the negative aura in this team, that explains the cold stare and close mouth.” Solana even acted like she was zippering her mouth.
- Ember smiled at Solana. Ever since the woman entered her room with an organic tea in hand, Ember always feels that she could trust her.
- Solana took Ember to the young recruits and they watched as one of the Deltas teach them how to dodge an attack with a counterattack.
- Ember’s heart was filled with joy as she watched the younger ones practiced and listened to their coaches. She can see their passion and fire to serve Bresmont. It just made her sad that a few soldiers were being left dead in the wood with an unknown killer.
- If she’s the leader of this pack, she will never allow such kind of thing to happen.
- One of the recruits approached Rudson and talked to him. Ember frowned when she looked at where she was standing.
- “It is okay if Luna Ember would teach us how to attack?” The young lady with black hair shyly asked Rudson.
- Using her heightened sense of hearing, Ember could hear what she just said. She couldn’t help but smile. She will be glad to teach them a few tricks.
- “I don’t think so, she’s here to watch all of you, and not teach you.” Rudson reasoned.
- Before the young lady turned and walk back with disappointment, Ember suddenly agreed.
- “You know, it’s okay. I can teach you a few tricks on how to attack an enemy with ease.”
- If her knowledge about combat and war will be of great help to these young werewolves, then she’s very much willing to teach them the art of fighting. In this way, she will not only help them become strong but will also help a lot of people when the time comes.
- Few of the recruits were happy that Ember agreed, but she can also sense that some of them don’t have much interest.
