Chapter 2

  • 9 years later.
  • Lord was lying on the cushions in the middle of the cushions in the room designated as his study. He was reviewing the latest reports concerning the herd. The hunting season was approaching, and supplies had to be controlled so that there would be an equitable distribution.
  • -Is everything in order, alpha?- standing in front of him was Senas with other papers in his arms.
  • The wolf only looked up to return his gaze to the paper in his hand and read on. A bead of sweat trickled down the beta's temple. Another thing that characterized Lord was that he didn't usually talk much, his look said practically everything, and in this case it was that he didn't dare to press him. He wanted to get out of there. He sobbed slightly, his alpha didn't seem to be in a good mood. And how could he not be, if his mate was away from him, playing with the other pups in the pack. Bad time to do it.
  • He was an extremely dominant wolf with her, but he owed her his space, the now 10 year old human pup...she could be quite stubborn when she wanted to be and was capable of arguing with him on par. It was a complicated scene to watch. A small body trying to assert itself against one that exuded pheromones all over the room, pheromones that she wasn't able to smell given her age, but the other wolves had to stand meters away so as not to suffer and still tremble.
  • But Lord had no right to complain, he had raised the girl the same as any warrior wolf in the pack, and her personality had adopted some of his character traits. This was what he gained.
  • Lord finally stopped looking at the paper and handed it back to him.
  • -The alpha ordered and leaned back almost sitting on the cushioned backrest, crossing his legs on the carpet. The flaps of his nose twitched as if he had caught a familiar scent.
  • -Alpha, there are still some documents to see...
  • -LORD- the curtain of the door of that place suddenly opened and a small tousled hair of long brown curls very similar to the alpha's fur, passed by the beta's side.
  • Now he understood why she had sent him out. Lord hated another male being so close when the human pup was with him. He was possessive, too much so. So with a nod of his head the beta got out of there as quickly as possible.
  • -Lord- the girl threw herself on the alpha's hard body and lay on top of him. Her hair was all matted, her light dress full of dirt as well as her face, her shoes were a mess, but her beautiful blue orbs were full of happiness.
  • -What's wrong?- the wolf wrapped his arm around her waist to hold her in place while the other slipped it under his own head, leaning back.
  • She pouted and pinched his cheek.
  • -You should smile more, I told you. You're very pretty, but you're scary.
  • Lord paid no attention to the girl's suggestion. His face was expressionless and even scary to some very young pups who had not interacted with him as much. He was alpha, he had no time to feel, though with his pup he relaxed more than she realized. He could stop thinking.
  • -Despite his gruff tone, she knew he was interested in her visit when he was in the middle of his work.
  • Luna smiled toward the wolf as she always did when she wanted something.
  • -Can I go hunting with you?
  • Lord's eyes narrowed.
  • -NO- his answer was absolute. There were no buts.
  • But Luna... she was special, with her... if there were buts.
  • The word fear did not apply to her. She wasn't and most had come to the conclusion that it was because of the link between them.
  • -Why not? Puppies my age will go. I can ride on your back. Please let me go.
  • Still, Lord flatly refused, baring his fangs at her. There were times when he had to be harder on her than usual. Luna was stubborn, something she had learned from him.
  • -You're not a wolf Luna, you're a human cub.
  • -Loooooooord- she kept insisting.
  • -A puppy of your age is almost an adult and can take care of itself. Hunting is not a game, it is a teaching- he explained as he always did with her- he had not hidden his fangs giving her to understand that NO was NO.
  • Not being a she-wolf she had made things clear to him from the start. She was a human even if he never imagined his mate would be. He hated humans, but nature had led him to have a mate of that breed. Perhaps because he had picked her up as a baby and raised her as a wolf impregnating her with his scent every day, that he was more tolerable to the idea of having her by his side and had not killed her for all her protests. Another wolf would have lost his neck by now.
  • Besides, he had always made things clear to her because he knew the consequences of lying, the truth always came out. He had even told her of her relationship with him, of the destiny that united them, of the link between them and that in a few more years she would be completely his and would wear his mark on her neck, as well as his puppy. Once he branded her it would be easier for her not to be so rebellious, he would control her with his pheromones. Luna had never objected in such matters. However, being raised within a pack where everyone was very different from her created various conflicts... like the present one.
  • Luna bit her lower lip until a red line began to appear on them. She knew Lord well, he was someone very attentive to her so they spent a lot of time together, she liked being next to the wolf and how he smelled. There were things she could argue with him about, most of the time she won if she said the right thing and got the right look, but there were times when it was best not to insist, especially when it came to her safety.
  • -Stingy- she let out and buried her face in the wolf's chest. Her matted hair fell around her strangely covering her face.
  • Lord ran his hand over her head stroking that sea of golden curls that still felt soft to the touch. He had become addicted to sleeping with them tangled between his fingers.
  • -When you're older I'll take you, now - and in spite of everything, he didn't like to see her depressed, it was his mate after all. As cold and serious as he was seeing her sad made his chest tighten. A feeling he had only experienced after he had found her and he didn't like it at all.
  • She shook her head stubbornly, but protested no further.
  • The wolf allowed himself to close his eyes for a while and rest. Being alpha demanded a lot of his time and energy, and Luna wasn't exactly a quiet child. Or rather he was, if she wasn't by his side he kept searching for her with his scent until he found her.
  • The girl did not move from on top of him, his scent used to calm her and little by little her breathing was becoming more leisurely, she was falling asleep, and with it he. Resting for half an hour wouldn't make a difference. So Lord allowed himself to sleep. However, he could not enjoy much of that time together with his partner.
