Chapter 1
- Lord, alpha of the Luna Pack opened his mouth with a slight gasp. Blood dripped from his fangs and stained the snow under his paws. Beside him the body of his prey lay lifeless. His chest swelled with satisfaction. He was definitely the best of his pack. It was not for nothing that he was the alpha. No matter the size of the animal facing him, they were no match for him.
- He shook the thick snow off his thick brown fur. He then raised his head and howled. It wasn't many minutes before three wolves appeared in his range of vision, as he stopped they were smaller than him in size but not in stoutness. Lord had arranged a strict training program for all members of his pack.
- Their grounds were large and the attack of invaders was imminent, each member had to be able to protect themselves with ease, including the cubs.
- -Alpha- Senas, his beta stopped, nodding his head.
- -Take him away- Lord ordered in a flat, authoritative voice.
- He didn't have to say anything else. For him there were only two ways, to be heeded or die by ignoring him. He was the absolute alpha of his pack, he would not allow disobedience, it had kept the pack afloat for almost 200 years. And would do so for many years to come.
- Senas nodded and with a nod of his head the two wolves behind him took it upon themselves to bite down on each side of the huge dead animal that would be part of that day's dinner and began dragging it back to the mansion. The beta walked behind his alpha without saying anything. He knew the older wolf was in quite a versatile mood lately, but when he killed... no matter how proud he was of his feat, instinct still remained awake and his neck could be next if he wasn't careful.
- Senas had known him for years. They were puppy friends. Lord had stood out above the other wolves even when he was only months old and even at a young age had earned the place of alpha of his pack. He followed him faithfully as beta without ever questioning anything; his alpha was someone who could not be argued with. When he wanted something, it was simply his and if he resisted, it was his destiny to disappear.
- They advanced several meters in the middle of the forest, pearly white with snow, when an unnatural sound for them reached their ears. Lord's whole body tensed and growled so loudly that his companions took a step back.
- If there was one thing that really bothered the alpha, it was that they would enter his grounds without his permission... and the smell coming to them on the soft, icy breeze was of... humans.
- Lord turned his body to the source of the smell with bloodshot eyes, intending to finish them off. He hated humans, they were despicable beings that he did not respect. So if they entered his grounds, all that was left for them to do was die. He had to put up with the fact that many of them had settled in a village on the edge of his land.
- With the wolf bristling and growling he began to walk towards the invaders. Senas signaled the other two not to move and he followed his alpha with a safe distance in case the situation became complicated. They hadn't gone far when the scent grew stronger and the humans were visible, but something wasn't right.
- Lord glued his ears to his head in alertness and approached the lumps in the middle of the snow that were moderately buried in the snow. Sound was coming from them, even if they did not move. The alpha moved closer and closer, cautiously, feeling his chest throbbing strangely the closer he got. That made him grit his teeth.
- Only when he was next to those bundles of cloth could he hear the sound more clearly. It was intermittent, sometimes high, sometimes low, fading, returning, as well as the small movement in the middle of what sounded like two sleeping bodies in the middle of the snow. Which were not exactly sleeping.
- -They are dead alpha- declared Sena going over one of the two bodies uncovering the head of one, pulling the fabric of the fur hood showing their faces already violet and totally stiff, -They must have died a few hours ago.
- But Lord did not listen to him. His eyes were fixed on that small body that moved in the middle of those two larger lifeless ones. A small, almost bluish hand was seen before this shaking of the cloth. And again that sound, as if it were crying.
- -Alpha... he's a human cub, he's still alive- Senas said in a flat voice. Most likely his alpha would wipe him out like all humans that crossed his path. He wondered how he had survived, maybe it was due to the warmth his parents had given him before they froze- Alpha?- he worried when he didn't see him move.
- Lord could not move a hair on his body. There, so close, that sound, that smell mixed with other more unpleasant ones. Perhaps...
- He ordered every muscle in his body to move and advanced a few steps putting his paws between the bodies and lowering his nose to the little hand. It moved and when it touched him his body shivered completely, and not because of how cold it was, making him open his eyes very wide.
- -Alpha?- Senas had realized that something was not right with him.
- Lord swallowed dryly, the blood in his body throbbed so much it hurt and there was something stirring inside him. Carefully he grabbed the cloth that protectively covered the human puppy and tugged at it, uncovering it. And that's when he saw it.
- No, it was not a simple human puppy that must have been barely a year old. It wasn't a simple little girl with very blue eyes filled with tears, who stopped moving and focused on him with wide open orbs. The alpha didn't have to see more, hear more, feel more to know.
- He slowly transformed his body until it stood erect at his 6'2- plus. His long dark chocolate hair waved over his broad bare back, and his muscles tensed, very taut. The snowflakes falling on him made a huge contrast against his slightly tanned skin several shades lighter than his hair and gave him an exotic touch above his pack.
- Senas, upon seeing him, copied him even without understanding, letting his white skin and blond hair appear in soft waves. Wouldn't his alpha kill the human cub? She did not understand. Lord was an easy wolf to predict...he was very basic, though unpredictable at times. However, he was even more shocked when he saw him bend down and clutch the baby in his arms, cradling it as if it were something very fragile. It was so small in comparison to him that it looked like it would break at any moment.
- -Alpha... what's going on?- the beta was unsettled, he had never seen him act like this before, unless... -What happened?
- -Senas- the alpha raised his gaze which for the first time was not as icy as it normally was, there was an unusual glow that was in them- This human puppy... is my mate.
