Chapter 3 Lincoln Bloodline
- By the time she got home that night, it was already dark into the night. Peeling off her damp clothes, she slipped into the shower to wash off then make dinner for herself. Her apartment was extremely small, housing only some household essentials.
- The thought of Asher kept making its way into her mind every now and then even as she poured her last bit of orange juice into a glass and sat down to eat her well cooked pasta.
- He was indeed handsome. His brown hazel eyes did reminded her of her mother's eyes. For someone who have never being in a relationship before, she found the thought of that stranger very endearing to her. In fact, the only thing stopping her from dialing his number at that moment is her moral upbringing.
- She might look desperate and cheap if she did. But then again, he'd said she could call him but still, calling him at that odd hour and so late in the night would only scream desperation and she is not about to sell herself off that cheap.
- She would definitely wait and call him by weekend. She thought with a sigh as she finished her dinner and moved into the tiny space she calls her kitchen to wash off her plate before going to bed. She still has tomorrow to look forward to.
- **
- The next morning came rather early as one minute, she found herself slipping under the covers and the next getting awaken with the ringing of her alarm.
- With a loud yawn and half body stretch, she struggled out of bed and began to get ready for another job interview.
- Beth brushed off the extra tangles in her hair once she was done drying out her semi damp hair once she stepped out of the shower. She pulled it into a neat bun afterwards before grabbing a yellow button up shirt that she paired with a black skirt before slipping into an equally black blazer suit.
- She wanted to appear just as modest for the job interview without giving her interviewer the possible idea of being a slut.
- Her phone chimed from across the bed indicating a new message and she quickly made to retrieve it. It was a last minute notification from the job agency.
- Her brow furrowed slightly as she read through the new message before glancing at the time. Beth realized she has only but another thirty minute more to make it to her appointment before she is rescheduled for another week and that would mean having to go through the trouble of paying the job agency for yet another slot.
- Placing the phone right back on the bed, she adjusted the hem of her blazer before grabbing her house keys and the brown envelope containing her document. She quickly slip out the door with her fingers crossed while praying so damn hard not to run into her landlord on her way down.
- Apparently, she was owing a month rent and was yet to pay up as promised. Maybe she might get really lucky this time and secure a position in the company she was going to interview for. She truly hopes she would.
- Beth began to hurry down the pavement, bag in hand and without paying attention to anything else. Not even to the strange man trailing her from behind. The heel of her best work shoes broke with an abrupt snap, sending her onto the floor of the road but instead of the floor, she found herself suspended mid way by two large hold across her mid rib.
- She gulped nervously, her heart racing a mile within her chest at the near accident. Still wrapped up in her saviour's arms, Beth looked up to behold the face that has saved her from kissing the floor so early in the morning.
- A quiet gasp escaped her slightly parted lips when her emerald green eyes beheld the brown hazel ones staring down at her and immediately relaxed with a sigh. It was only Asher after all. The same guy she had met the previous day at the stand post.
- She arched a slight brow at him, "what are you doing here Asher, did you follow me home last night?"
- He gave a careless shrug but made no move to answer her question.
- Beth realized shortly afterwards, having him so close kind of made her super small and short as compared to the man holding on to her. On a second thought, she couldn't help but think, there was something strange about his aura that morning. Even though they have met before, everything about him felt just as strange.
- "Thanks for helping me Asher but you might want to let go now" She said with a chuckle and a little out of breath but he didn't release his hold on her, instead, his brow furrowed slightly as he continued to stare at her.
- "I'm afraid you and me are going to have to take a little walk down the ally" He said in a voice that sounded more like a growl.
- Beth opened her mouth to question him but no word made it out as She only swallowed hard. A cold chill starting to run down her spine at Asher's sudden behavior.
- "I would have loved to but I'm in a bit of hurry and can't right now. So how about we take that walk around weekend instead"
- Beth said, hoping it will be enough to let go so she can make a run for it but his grip only tightened a little more.
- "I do insist we take that walk right now" He sneered at her through gritted teeth. When her eyes met his again?,this time, it wasn't the brown hazel beauty she saw the first time as his pupil quickly bled over, his once white set of teeth now sharp canines as he bared them at her in a snarl, naked rage filling his now demon looking face.
- Beth who was taken by the sight before her only stared back at Asher's transformation in shock. Snapping out of her shock mood after a while, she opened her mouth to let out a scream but he quickly grab her by the neck with his claw-like fingers digging painfully into her neck.
- She began to struggle and kick against him, totally unable to breathe as panic rose up to her chest. It was still 8am in the morning and the street were just as crowded with people hurrying about their duty but no one seem to notice she was under attack from that demon from hell.
- Is it that, they can't see her or they just didn't care enough to want to help her. But the way they went on their way without sparing a glance at her direction. It's obvious, they can't see what's happening. Finally dawning on her that's it's all up to her to save herself.
- Beth open her mouth to let out a scream but he pulled her closer, her feet almost came off the ground.
- "Scream all you want but I can assure you, no one would hear you so you might as well save your energy for everything that await you"
- Everything happened so fast that Beth found herself flying through the air as she was knocked clear across the concrete floor. The trip took no time at all as her back immediately connected with one of the trash can in the ally, knocking out the remaining air out of her lungs.
- Still struggling to catch her breath and probably adjust to the pain ripping through her back, Beth found herself getting picked off the ground like a weightless piece of paper and place not too gently across his shoulders before he turned and began to walk towards a deserted side ally and further towards a parked black SUV car.
- **
- Beth thought raced with all the possible means of escape as she realized that she was being abducted and even worst by some harmless guy turned demon.
- The pain in her back and lower rib was increasing by the second. She has no doubt, a few had broken while she collided with the trash bin making her wonder if she would be able to make a run for it if she'd manage to escape his clutches.
- "This isn't the hunter is it?" Another man who was seated inside the car at the driver's seat had asked the moment she was lowered into the back seat.
- "No but this would do" Asher stated as his hateful glare continue to burn a hole through her teary eyes.
- "Please, let me go" she begged as she struggled to reach for the door handle but realized what she could only term as the worst mistake of her life as he reached over and grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled her closer before sneering down at her trembling figure.
- "Try to escape one more time and I won't hesitate to cut off those fingers of yours, understood?"
- "Please, I don't know what this is about but I haven't done anything wrong. Please, just let me go. I won't breath a word of this to anyone, I promise" Beth desperately pleaded but his grip on her hair only tightened causing more tears to stream down her already blurred vision. The pain totally unbearable.
- "You sit here acting all Innocent and pitiful but make no mistake. You can't fool or affect me with your tears because I have seen first hand what a Lincoln bloodline is capable of. You are going to die a slow painful death and no one is going to save you from me" Asher snarled at her before he send her crashing further into the seat but not before slicing his claws across her face.
- Beth gritted her teeth, not willing to scream for fear of being dealt more blow before the vehicle began to move towards an unknown destination.
