Chapter 5 She Was Betrayed Before The Wedding
- Frederick's gaze was fierce and menacing. "Hannah is the woman I legally married, and she will be the only wife I recognize in this lifetime. If you bother her again, you'll have me to answer to!"
- With those words, he bent down to pick up his son and took Hannah's hand, striding away.
- "Hannah..." Wynette just wanted to clarify what happened years ago; Hannah certainly knew who that man was.
- But Hannah followed Frederick, and at the door, she suddenly turned back to Wynette with a vaguely cold smirk.
- Wynette's eyes darkened, contemplating their reactions; a bitter and indescribable pain welled up inside her, rendering her momentarily speechless.
- She stood there for a long time, unable to recover, until a voice suddenly came from behind.
- "Are you Wynette Yancey, the one here for the interview today?"
- Wynette snapped out of her daze and quickly turned around, saying, "Yes, I am Wynette Yancey."
- "I'm the principal of this school. Please follow me to my office." The principal, Ms. Halt, had overheard their argument, and his attitude towards Wynette was not very warm.
- In the principal's office, he asked her to place her resume on the desk.
- As Wynette did so, she inadvertently noticed a student information form on the desk; the first page was the enrollment information for Hannah and Frederick's son.
- She glanced at it and saw the child's name was Charlie Ziegler, born on March 20th, the same year as her son.
- Her heart sank; her son's birthday was June 29th, which meant Charlie was three months older than her son!
- If Hannah was pregnant on the day she and Frederick got married, their child's birthdate should be around the same as her son's.
- That meant... Hannah was already three months pregnant when she married him?!
- Wynette's already guilty conscience plummeted; had Frederick been betraying her with Hannah before their wedding?
- …
- Leaving the piano school, Wynette was lost in thought.
- Ms. Halt had asked her to go back and wait for further instructions. However, she no longer had any hopes for the job. It was clear to her that the principal was trying to please Hannah.
- She kept thinking, had Frederick betrayed me before our marriage?
- If so, why had I spent years feeling guilty?
- Why did Frederick chastise me for fleeing the wedding?
- Wasn't my disappearance a favor to them?
- Her phone rang.
- Without looking, she swiped to answer. "Hello?"
- "Mommy, I'm at the airport. Come pick me up." Her son Ethan's voice came through.
- He just said that and ended the call before she could react. "What did you say?"
- Staring at her phone screen, the words echoed in her mind—he was at the airport?
- Had he come after her so quickly?
- The phone rang again, and thinking it was her son, she quickly answered. "Ethan, you..."
- "Wynette, it's me." It was a man's voice.
- "Steven?"
- "Yes, I called to tell you. Ethan secretly bought a ticket and should already be there."
- "I know already..."
- Wynette sighed helplessly and headed to the airport immediately.
- At the international airport.
- The restroom area was surrounded by airport security, while inside was encircled by a group of men in black suits.
- "Everyone, stay calm; the criminal has a knife. Be careful not to harm Miss Madison," a leading assistant, Victor, instructed the bodyguards, then returned to his boss' side.
- "Mr. Hudson, everything is under control," he reported.
- Hudson's hawk-like eyes glared ahead, furious that a bold criminal had dared to take his daughter hostage to blackmail him!
- Beside him, Raelyn's eyes were red from crying. "Hudson, tell him not to hurt Maddy. I'll agree to whatever he wants..."
- Although this daughter hadn't secured her a permanent spot as the lady of the Ziegler Family, she was her only bargaining chip; her daughter absolutely couldn't be harmed!
