Chapter 10 Did He Have a Problem?
- Wynette was stunned as she looked at Raelyn, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Are you saying I'm not qualified? And you're firing me?"
- "Yes. You're not only unqualified but unsuitable to my daughter's teacher," Raelyn responded without her earlier gentleness. She now behaved in an overly domineering demeanor.
- "I haven't even started the lessons. How can you claim that I'm unsuitable?" Wynette was even more puzzled.
- "If I say you're unsuitable, it means you are unsuitable. Of course, if you need the money, I'll pay for today's lessons. In fact, I can even double it, but only if you scram at this instance," Raelyn asserted with the arrogance of a wealthy lady.
- A servant handed her a thick envelope filled with cash.
- She tossed the envelope onto the piano in front of Wynette, her tone disdainful. "Take this money and leave."
- Wynette couldn't understand why the other woman harbored such intense hostility towards her. Was it just because that woman's husband had helped Wynette up earlier?
- She thought Hudson and Raelyn were husband and wife.
- If they were going to dismiss her without even giving her a chance just because of that incident, it was not a place where she could stay.
- Wynette looked directly at Raelyn and said calmly, "Since I haven’t taught your daughter, this money isn’t mine. Keep it for the next teacher." With that, she walked confidently towards the exit.
- She already felt the pressure of teaching a prominent family like the Ziegler Family, especially when it was a family she shouldn't be having any contact with.
- Raelyn watched as Wynette left, scoffing. "Playing the high and mighty act, huh? She's merely aiming to climb the social ladder."
- "Mommy, why did you send this teacher away quickly? She hasn't even given me lessons yet." Madison was becoming more confused by what her mother did.
- "She's a temptress. Not fit to be your teacher. That's why I had to send her away pronto," Raelyn explained, recalling that Wynette was the first teacher to have caught Hudson's eye.
- Although Madison thought that Wynette was a nice teacher, she did not voice this thought aloud. She looked down, worriedly murmuring, "Mommy, you've driven the teacher away again, so who will teach me piano? Grandpa’s birthday is coming up soon."
- Raelyn grew impatient. "I'll find you a suitable teacher soon. What's the worry? Also, focus on the learning. Don't embarrass me or your daddy by then!"
- Behind closed doors, she was a strict parent with her daughter.
- She was infuriated that she bore a daughter. Had her child been a son, Old Mr. Ziegler would not have objected to her marrying into the Ziegler Family.
- The elder had once commented that she was Hudson's secretary, not someone from a status suitable to be the matriarch of the Ziegler Family.
- What he said is true. I might have been Hudson's secretary but after that night four years ago… I became his antidote, delivered his daughter, and ultimately became his fiancee. Such an ambiguous status is not what I want. I crave to be his wife, but the relationship that Hudson has with Maddy…
- Raelyn looked at her daughter. There was a flicker of disdain in her eyes as she cursed inwardly. Why didn't I have a son?
- Ziegler Family valued male heirs greatly, especially since the family was no longer thriving.
- What infuriated Raelyn more was the inability to stay in the same room as Hudson even though she could live in the Ziegler Residence. Normally, it was her and Madison in a separate room.
- She wanted to try for another child but couldn't. Every time she donned sexy nightwear and approached Hudson, he would remain unmoved. He claimed that Maddy was still young, so it wasn't the right time for another child.
- It's merely an excuse. I even caught myself wondering whether he was impotent. What kind of man can remain abstinent for four years? Who would believe such a thing?
- Wynette stood in front of the Ziegler Residence, waiting for the vehicle that she had called.
- Oh, great. Even the heavens seem to conspire against me in terms of misfortune, she thought when it began to pour with rain unexpectedly. Luckily, I brought an umbrella with me.
- She retrieved the umbrella from her bag at lightning speed and opened it.
- As the pitter-patter of the rain was too loud, she didn't hear the sound of the large, iron gate opening behind her. A black Maybach drove up and stopped in front of her.
- She looked up to see the car window wound down, revealing the handsome face of the man inside.
