Chapter 2 Meeting

  • It stunned Assistant Lu. Not a ripple of anger could be detected from Cen Yao’s words. She was befitting to be a CEO’s wife! In the face of such outrageous embarrassment, Cen Yao had remained calm and composed.
  • Yet, what else could she do other than to handle it nonchalantly? She could neither bring herself to make a scene nor give in, to his actions. Moreover, tears were never a free pass to a heartless man.
  • Cen Yao opened the door and took her departure.
  • The moment the door had shut, the sound of flapping paper could be heard from within. The papers had fluttered to the ground miserably after Bu Ziang had tossed the documents onto the ground. Full of exasperation, he howled furiously, “Cen Yao, I’m going to divorce you!”
  • Cen Yao’s body stiffened momentarily, as she stood outside the door. Even after carrying such actions out countlessly, Cen Yao’s entire body grew cold, as though she had gotten drenched by a bucket of cold water. This was in spite of the fact that she had already gone through adequate mental preparation.
  • Cen Yao was still in the office doing overtime, when Jiang Yingying called her on the phone, “Yaoyao, come over to Xudong’s place quickly.”
  • Jiang Yingying’s older brother, Jiang Xudong, was the owner of Heaven and Earth.
  • Cen Yao dexterously typed on the computer’s keyboard with her delicate hands while she asked casually, “What for this time?”
  • “You’ll find out when you get here. Hurry up, okay? I’ll be here waiting for you,” Jiang Yingying tried to keep her in suspense.
  • Cen Yao languidly uttered, “Uh huh,” before hanging up.
  • After completing the work at hand, she raised her eyes to the clock on the wall. It was nine in the night, and Bu Ziang was unlikely to be home at this hour. Of course, after today’s episode, she had not wished to see him.
  • Shutting her laptop, Cen Yao retrieved her purse and stood up to make her way out of the office.
  • Her secretary, Li Qing, raised her head, “Mrs. Bu, are you calling it a day?”
  • Cen Yao nodded her head, “Go back and rest too. It’s getting late.”
  • “Yes, I will. See you, Mrs. Bu.”
  • Cen Yao had a white BMW and she drove, unhindered, all the way to Heaven and Earth.
  • “Yaoyao! Over here!” Jiang Yingying waved at her from afar.
  • Cen Yao walked over to the luxurious couch to take a seat. Placing her purse beside her, she immediately poured herself a glass of wine. After taking a sip, she relented, “Say it.”
  • “First-rate! Positively first-rate!” Pointing to the bar nearby, Jiang Yingying’s little face lit up enthusiastically, “Look over there! He’s so fine that I want to throw myself at him!”
  • So, it was nothing more than a man!
  • Cen Yao could not be bothered. Jiang Yingying was boy crazy; this, she had long known. Not wanting to dampen her friend’s spirits, she continued to turn her head obligingly. Cen Yao surmised, after having seen her fair share of handsome men, that men, such as Bu Ziang, would take advantage of their good looks to play the field. Nonetheless, Bu Ziang’s dashing looks would pale in comparison, if he were to be placed before this man.
  • As the backlight outlined the man’s impeccable features, with a statuesque and slender frame, he sat holding a wine glass while exuding an extraordinarily imperturbable aura.
  • It seemed that he had sensed her gaze, as he suddenly raised his head. As Cen Yao got caught in her surprise, she was incapable of averting her eyes in time. Consequently, they gazed into each other’s eyes.
  • His eyes were deep, ink-black, and unfathomable. They were like a hypnotic vortex, which could effortlessly draw one in. Cen Yao’s heart skipped a beat, as she felt as though she had been caught red-handed, up to no good. Her cheeks instantly reddened.
  • “Yaoyao, he’s looking at you,” Jiang Yingying shook her arm.
  • “I can tell.” Cen Yao pretended to look around, only to veer her sight elsewhere subtly before taking another sip of wine to soothe her parched throat.
  • “I didn’t exaggerate this time, right? Isn’t he a looker?”
  • “…If you’d insist.”
  • “You’re so stubborn! His looks have beat Bu Ziang’s, am I right?”
  • At the mention of the man, Cen Yao stopped talking, carrying on with her drinking.
