Chapter 7 Something Is Wrong If There Is
- Instantly, Jiang Yingying grew reinvigorated, “How did it feel last night then?”
- “What do you mean by how?”
- “Of course, I’m talking about that. He’s a professional after all, so it ought to feel pretty good.”
- As a result of Jiang Yingying’s question, Cen Yao could not help but think back on what had occurred last night.
- Due to overdrinking, she had a fragmented memory. Though she faintly recalled that he had seemed to have kissed every inch of her body, not missing a spot, of the tiny crevices in her most private regions.
- They intertwined madly.
- Did this man usually serve other women like that?
- Cen Yao found this question amusing. Of course, he did. Given the trade that he was in, using as many tricks as he could to serve women was required of his profession.
- “Hey. Why did you stop talking?” chuckled Jiang Yingying, “Don’t tell me that your mind is still lingering over it?”
- “Think my ass,” muttered Cen Yao, “It was an accident.”
- Jiang Yingying laughed mutedly, “Did you ask for his work number? If you like him, you can look him up the next time.”
- “There won’t be a next time,” Cen Yao hung up on Jiang Yingying, standing out on the streets in a daze. Inexplicably, she was a little sad. When did she start allowing herself to live in such chaos, being so lacking in inhibition? After flagging down a cab, she went home. She had to freshen up and head back to the office.
- At the Bus.
- Shortly after arriving at the door, the servant, Mrs. Wu, came up and welcomed Cen Yao, “Young Madam, you’re back.”
- “Morning,” Cen Yao greeted her.
- “Where did you go last night?” Cen Yao heard a stern questioning the moment she changed her shoes and stepped through the door.
- Cen Yao raised her head, only to see her mother-in-law, Ren Minxuan, sitting in the living room.
- “Mom…”
- Ren Mingxuan hummed at her coldly, “You’re only diligent at calling me, Mom, but I’ve never seen you do anything expected of a daughter-in-law.”
- “Let me pour you some tea,” Cen Yao headed towards the kitchen.
- “Do I have the fortune of drinking tea brewed by Director Cen?” Ren Mingxuan glanced at her, “Come over here and sit down!”
- Without a word, Cen Yao abided by Ren Mingxuan’s wishes, as she seated herself on the armchair.
- “Last night, neither of you came back. What have you been up to?”
- Although it seemed that Bu Ziang honestly did not return, Cen Yao was unsurprised.
- “Mom, Ziang, and I are both quite busy. The company recently took on a difficult project. It has left me running around, exhausting my interpersonal relationships…”
- “Stop using work to deceive me. You’re making it sound as though the Bu Enterprise is inoperable without you,” Ren Mingxuan interrupted her.
- Cen Yao kept silent.
- She understood that her mother-in-law did not appreciate her strength.
- Initially, when she had married into the family, she was purely competitive, working hard in the company, while striving for the glory of both the Cens and herself and preventing herself from being trapped in a passive position. Over time, it became a burden, resting on her shoulders as she could not forsake the team working under her, at a mere whim. With her increasing presence in the office, the Board of Directors grew increasingly receptive about her, causing fear to stem from her mother-in-law.
- “Even if you could stay 24 hours daily in the office, you won’t get a single share of the company the day my Ziang divorces you.”
- Sure enough, this subject came up again.
- Cen Yao did not respond. Mrs. Wu felt sorry for her as she quietly brought a cup of tea in. After drinking it, Cen Yao found that it had alleviated her slightly, “Mom, I’ve got something to do in the office, so if that is all, then I’d like to go up and take a shower.”
- “How can that be all? Do you think that I’ve got nothing better to do than to come here if there weren’t any problems?” Ren Mingxuan shouted a couple of times before scanning Cen Yao’s flat stomach.
- With restraint, she asked, “Any news yet?”
- “…” something would be wrong if there was any.
