Chapter 9 Looking for Someone

  • Ask him to be sure?
  • Cen Yao was a hundred times over-averse to seeing the man from last night, not because he was unlikeable, but precisely because he was pretty good. However, due to the sense of shame she felt, she was unwilling to ever see him again.
  • But it looked like she had no other option now.
  • It so happened that she needed to return to Heaven and Earth to collect her car, so after leaving the hospital, she went straight there. Despite waiting late into the night, she did not catch sight of the man.
  • By the time it was ten o’clock, she finally lost her patience and asked a waiter who happened to walk by, “Last night, a man sat in this spot, wearing a white shirt. He was slightly over 185 cm tall. I’d heard that he’s your ace, but why don’t I see him tonight?”
  • “The ace? He’s around.”
  • “Is he? Then can you get him to come over? I won’t take up too much of his time,” Cen Yao tipped the waiter.
  • Shortly, he brought a young man over.
  • Cen Yao took one glance at him. How could this be the man from last night? Compared to him, this so-called ace’s reputation did not measure up to reality. Be it his aura or style of conversation, none of it could rival the man from last night.
  • Cen Yao casually said a few words before sending him on his way. After not having seen him by midnight, she left the club to give Jiang Yingying a call. Once Jiang Yingying had realized that Cen Yao had wanted to check on the man from last night, she became so enthusiastic that she had no longer felt sleepy.
  • “Yaoyao, is this because he left you longing for more?”
  • “Longing my ass!” Cen Yao curbed herself from telling her more. As Jiang Yingying was excitable by nature, Cen Yao did not want her to suffer in anxiety with her. In the end, she only professed, “Just help me find out, or maybe ask your brother? The sooner, the better.”
  • “Sure thing! Count on me!”
  • After ending the phone call with Jiang Yingying, Cen Yao sat in the car watching the bustling nightlife outside the window, making her feel empty inside.
  • Her phone rang again, in the constricted confines of a car, sounding particularly loud. She scanned its screen to see two words reading, “Bu Ziang”, coming distinctly to her eyes. She answered the call but remained silent while Bu Ziang’s yelling came through the line, “Come back, immediately!”
  • As Cen Yao was too fatigued to reply, she mutely hung up instead.
  • She cheered herself up and drove home.
  • “Young Madam,” Mrs. Wu greeted her then carefully glanced upstairs, “Young Master’s throwing a temper. I wonder who’d offended him?”
  • “It’s okay. Why don’t you pack up then knock off? You had a long day.”
  • Mrs. Wu nodded her head, “Have an early night yourself.”
  • Cen Yao nodded her head and headed upstairs.
  • When she reached the bedroom door, she entered to see Bu Ziang sitting on the couch. With a document in hand, he was on the phone reprimanding someone for being useless. This was probably because the project was not smooth sailing.
  • Cen Yao ignored him, setting her bag down, as she approached the large dressing table.
  • After taking a seat, an interrogative voice questioned, “You reek of cigarettes and alcohol. Where have you been fooling around?”
  • Unbeknownst to her, Bu Ziang had hung up the phone.
  • Cen Yao did not spare him a glance, as she slowly removed the earrings hanging off her earlobes instead, “When it comes to fooling around, Young Master Bu’s the expert. All I did was meet my friend for dinner outside.”
  • “Really?” Bu Ziang rose to take two steps over before suddenly carrying Cen Yao off the chair from behind.
  • Despite the composure that Cen Yao always had, this abrupt act of closeness shocked her. In an instant, she got tossed onto the bed roughly. Before she had managed to get up, Bu Ziang had pressed down onto her, pinning her hands overhead on the pillow, using both his hands.
