Chapter 40

  • I'm not sure how fancy I should dress since Harvey won't tell me where we're going. After rummaging through my closet, I settle on a simple red A-line dress that's sleeveless and hits a few inches above my knees. Harvey’s wearing jeans, so I'm guessing it's not a formal event. The dress is casual but still cute. I put on some sheer black leggings and black ankle boots with a short, block heel. I apply light makeup and leave my hair in its natural, wavy state.
  • I spot my grey coat from last night's party folded neatly on a chair with my heels on top. I remember Harvey carrying me home without my coat or shoes, so someone must have gone through the trouble of bringing them back. I blush as I recall his scent and the taste of his skin as I kissed his neck. Oh, dear God. I can't believe I did that. I'm embarrassed and my entire body heats up. I had too much to drink and now I'm regretting it. I'm surprised Harvey was kind enough not to mention it. After taking a few deep breaths to calm myself, I put on my coat and head downstairs.
  • Harvey is already waiting for me in the lounge. He's wearing a black jacket and stands up as I reach the bottom of the stairs.
