Chapter 2

  • I hurry back to my room to change my clothes. I quickly get dressed and run back home. It's been two hours since I left and it's almost 7AM when I arrive. Chloe is already up and making breakfast.
  • "Hey, where have you been?" She inquires.
  • "Just went for a run," I reply with a shrug. "I'll never understand how people like you can have so much energy in the morning," she says, rolling her eyes. "Go get cleaned up. Breakfast is ready," she orders.
  • I glance at the stack of waffles she has prepared for us. I'm not very good at cooking, so Chloe usually takes care of that. That means I have to do the cleaning, which I don't mind because I find it quite satisfying.
  • "I'd be lost without you," I joke.
  • I quickly take a shower to wash off all the dirt and sweat. Then I head back to the kitchen.eat as if on command, my stomach grumbles
  • at the sight of the mouthwatering food.
  • We don't really talk much during breakfast as
  • I am busy devouring every piece of the waffles
  • Chloe made. As soon as I'm done, I go to my
  • room to get ready or else I'm gonna be late.
  • After brushing my teeth, I dry my hair and
  • change into an ivory turtleneck cropped
  • sweater, blue skinny jeans, and brown boots.
  • I put on some moisturiser, nude lipstick and
  • mascara, keeping the makeup to a minimum.
  • The blue in my eyes looks brighter than usual
  • and even my skin looks fresh. I guess I have
  • the run to thank for that. I let my blonde hair
  • fall loose along my back and head off.
  • Since the school year is almost over, we
  • usually spend most of our time at the hospital
  • but we do have a few classes every other day.
  • Today is our second to last day of classes and in two weeks, our exams will begin. As I enter the classroom, I spot my group of friends at the back, waving at me. Evelyn is usually the first one to arrive and she always saves us all seats. She has dark hair and pale skin, and her dark eyes are usually sunken from studying. She always has a mug of black coffee in her hands. Evelyn is undoubtedly the smartest in our group, always topping the classes. Emily is probably my closest friend in the group, as we have more classes together than the others and I usually spend most of my time with her. Clara is late, as usual, and arrives just seconds before the professor. We all wave frantically so she can see where we're sitting. The professor looks at us and then goes to her desk to take out her laptop. Soon the class starts and we all try to understand.Evelyn and Clara rush off to their next class while Emily and I head to the lab. "Can you believe the fight between Louis Grant and Robert Gray ?" Emily says as we walk. Louis is in our class and he's one of those mysterious, attractive guys with dark hair and striking features. He's tall and muscular, but he's also a great student. He's not one to talk much, but when he does, you can tell he's got a lot of knowledge. He usually keeps to himself.I was always curious about Louis, the only other werewolf in our class. I never talked to him, but I always wondered if he knew I was one too. Werewolves usually have a distinct scent, so either he couldn't tell or he knew and chose to ignore it.
  • Robert Gray is also a werewolf and he and his friends often hang out in the local pub and cause trouble. I never understood why they were always in our area, since Robert doesn't go to our college. Maybe they had a problem with Louis’s pack or were allies and visited often.
  • I asked Emily what happened when I heard about the fight between Louis and Robert . She said Robert started yelling at Louis and cursing, and Louis just got up and punched him. She said it was about time Louis put his muscles to good use. I rolled my eyes and told her to get back to the story. We finally made it to the lab and took our seats. Emily pulls out her phone and shows me the video she saw on Instagram. I take the phone and watch it carefully. It's clear that Robert said something to Louis that made him angry, and his fists were clenched, probably trying to keep his wolf in check. Then, he punches him and the rest of the story unfolds as Emily described.
  • "Oh my gosh, Matilda, look!" Emily exclaims in shock. I follow her gaze and see Louis . "I can't believe he's here. He doesn't look hurt though," she says, squinting her eyes. "He's so strong," she adds in amazement, more to herself than to me. Just then, the professor walks in and we get to work.
