• The news hit me like a blow. Three Silverfang guards, their faces unpleasant, had delivered a letter from Zara’s father. I could see the look on Zara’s face. She had 5 days to return to her pack or they would unleash a war. I wanted to protect my pack and the woman I love but deep down I knew it would cost a lot.
• Zara stood frozen and her face pale, the weight of their threat in the letter heavy in the air. I reached for her because I knew she was pretending to be strong, I needed to offer her comfort, to share the burden that threatened to consume her.
