• "You can't ask me to leave." Evelyn hushed. "You have no right to say that to me. Yes. Your Father was a pathetic loser, always supporting you when you did the wrong thing. That was what led him to his death, ignorance."
• Ashford's eyes turned dark; his father had been the only one who understood him and took good care of him. His father had listened to all he had to say and let him do whatever he wanted as long as it made him happy.
