• She stared at him innocently, as if nothing had happened. She wondered what he wanted to say to her. Was he going to scold her for still speaking with Ashford, whom he believed to be her ex-lover? She also wondered about his reaction when he discovered that she was mated to both of them.
• Ashford hadn't reacted much and had allowed her to do as she pleased, but he had made it clear that she couldn't reject him. Even though she had tried, he was determined not to let her go.
• She had never liked Adrian from the start because of the way her father had spoken about him, always saying good things about him and wishing he was her mate—which, as it turned out, he was.
