Chapter 9 Bumped Into The President

  • Next day, Aurora Blake got her kids dressed up and ready for school. It was going to be their first day in school and her first day in Office.
  • She looked at the boy's and they looked great in their school uniforms. They're three and a half years old but have the brain and smartness of a ten year old.
  • "Are you going to accompany us to school?" Lee Blake asked.
  • "Of course darling, I will drop you off at school and return to pick you home," Aurora answered and kissed his temple. She planted a feather light kiss on Tim's temple as well before walking them out into the car.
  • The kids were so excited, they're going to a new school where they will have new friends.
  • Aurora dropped them off at school and went to the Harrington Group where she was to resume work.
  • She was stepping out of the elevator when she bumped into a tall figure.
  • She almost stumbled over but fell into the arms of the man. She felt embarrassed and mumbled sorry before regaining her balance.
  • She apologized and felt the scent of the man's body was somewhat familiar. She apologized but before raising her head and looking at the man's face, he already shoved her aside casually and took a handkerchief cleaning his arms and suit on which Aurora fell on.
  • He had turned his back to her and the elevator gradually closed. She looked around and saw some unfamiliar faces staring at her.
  • "Hello I'm Aurora Blake, a new employee of the company. I am to see the President first before settling down into the office," Aurora explained to the person closest to her.
  • She was directed here at the President's floor where she could find him. She presumed the person she was talking to must be a secretary with the ID card hung around her neck.
  • "Do you know the President if you want to see him?" She asked.
  • “No. I’ve never met him before.”
  • "I presume. The man you bumped into when you were stepping out of the elevator is the President and I guess he is traveling," the secretary replied and smiled at Aurora.
  • Aurora was speechless. He was leaving when she was walking in? Who was going to endorse her to office now?
  • "You are welcome Aurora Blake. I am Lucas Harrington, the vice president." The voice came from another end of the lobby.
  • Aurora turned and saw a cute looking dude who bore a lot resemblance with her boys. She squinted and then smiled.
  • "Hi," Aurora greeted him with a polite smile. She walked over to him and he shook hands with her before asking her to follow him.
  • Aurora turned back and smiled at the secretary who first talked to her and waved at her. The secretary bowed slightly and smiled back at her.
  • The secretary admired Aurora at once and liked her. Aurora's smile is contagious. Her smile automatically made you have a relaxed facial expression and willingly reciprocate it.
  • Lucas Harrington took Aurora to his office. A well furnished room with a sophisticated sofa. The desk was made from special timbers, maybe mahogany to be precise.
  • He offered her a seat and told her he was to welcome her to the company. The President wouldn't be around for a week and she needed to resume work at once.
  • He was President Alexander Harrington's brother. He gave a brief introduction of himself and at the same time was throwing snacks into his mouth.
  • Aurora liked his humorous side and appreciated him. He showed her to her office adjacent to the President and Vice president.
  • Aurora got an office and she was pleased to start work at once. She included it in her resume that she was a single mother and Lucas Harrington told her she should feel free to ask him questions on things she doesn't understand.
  • Her first job came right that day. She was to design a set of jewelry for a highly placed country ambassador in celebrating his wife's birthday.
  • Aurora was good at her job and she set to work. She drafted the sketches and was going to begin the designs when the time for lunch clocked.
  • She went to lunch and was fortunate to meet Lucas at the cafeteria. They ordered their meal and ate silently. The more Aurora looked at Lucas, the more she saw her boys in him.
  • It was odd to ask him stupid questions but he might be her kids father.
  • But she didn't want anyone to share their love with her.
  • The kids were hers and hers alone. She was not ready to acknowledge anyone as their father. She didn't want any man to stand before her to say he wanted to share custody of her kids.
  • “Uh, Lucas, have we met before?”
  • “Not likely. Besides going through your resume and seeing your pictures attached, I’ve never met you until this morning.”
  • “Oh. I feel like we’ve met somewhere before. But don’t mind it. People have their twins elsewhere.” Aurora smiled.

  • Christopher waited at the restaurant and Rosa arrived. He was happy when he saw her.
  • During the lunch, they talked and Christopher was saying things that kept Rosa laughing.
  • “So, would you like to start a relationship with me, Rosa?” Christopher asked after they finished lunch and strolled on the sidewalk.
  • Rosa didn’t say yes or no. She lowered her head, then looked into his eyes, “I don’t want to start a relationship with you for a certain reason.”
  • He raked his brain and could only think of one reason: Aurora Blake! She wanted him to define their relationship.
  • "Well if you are thinking about Aurora, she's a lovely woman but we are friends. We don't have a crush on each other but to convince you, I will have a talk with her." Christopher explained.
  • "Aurora has gone through a lot already. What if she loves you and you are yet to see through her eyes? I am the only girlfriend she has. I don't want to..." Rosa was trying to explain things to him.
  • "Same goes for me. She trusts me so much and I don't want to betray her trust. But I'm not just a doctor, I also study psychology and I know if a woman has a crush on a man. Aurora has no such feelings for me," Christopher assured.
  • That way, Rosa was a little relaxed and nodded her head.
  • Christopher then asked, "Have you already accepted me?"
  • Rosa blushed.
  • He chuckled. Then he pulled her to himself and kissed her gently and sweetly.
  • They both were lost in each other's arms kissing. Rosa closed her eyes and let him take her lips as he kissed her passionately until he pulled away and smiled.

  • Soon the day work was over and Aurora drove to the kindergarten to get her kids when she suddenly stumbled upon a certain person.
  • Sara Blake.
