Chapter 4 Found A New Family

  • "Aurora Blake!" Rosa, her childhood school friend, yelled.
  • She ran to her and just managed to pull her away when the speeding car zoomed past, and the breeze from the car made Aurora and Rosa stagger. That was when Aurora saw many people turn and stare at her.
  • "What's wrong with you, Aurora? Do you want to die?" Rosa yelled, looking at Aurora. Her face was swollen red, and she looked tired and weak.
  • "Thank you, Rosa," Aurora said.
  • Rosa held her hand and led her to the side.
  • "Where are you going, Aurora?" Rosa asked. Last she heard, Aurora had a quiet wedding with some guy a few months ago.
  • Why was she looking so miserable? Where was her husband and sister? She had a little sister Sara if she could remember correctly.
  • "I don't know," Aurora answered.
  • "What do you mean you don't know? Where's your home address?" Rosa asked. Aurora was married and definitely had a home with her husband. She also had a place at Blake Mansion.
  • "I have no home anywhere, Rosa. I am a wanderer. Maybe you should have left me to get crushed by that car rather than saving me," Aurora said with teary eyes.
  • Rosa understood. Aurora's marriage was definitely having issues, and she couldn't possibly return to Blake Mansion. Rosa didn't ask any more questions.
  • She hailed a taxi and pushed Aurora inside, then joined her. She gave the driver her address, and he drove them home.
  • Rosa lived with her mother and brother in their modest house. Modest because it was nothing compared to where Aurora had lived and grown up.
  • Rosa's mother saw her daughter return home with her friend from many years ago. She welcomed them both warmly. But seeing Aurora's sad countenance, she didn't ask any questions.
  • Rosa's mother and brother took Aurora in and entertained her. She ate and took a bath. Rosa's mother offered her the guest room for as long as she needed.
  • Aurora couldn't believe she was receiving such good hospitality from an old friend. She sobbed more. An old friend had become her family, while her family had turned into strangers.
  • What an irony.
  • Two days passed, and Aurora was starting to smile slightly at Rosa's brother's little jokes. No one had asked Aurora what had happened until four days later when she was a bit more cheerful and talked more freely with them.
  • That evening, Aurora told them everything that had befallen her, how she ended up in the hospital, and finally signing the papers.
  • Rosa and her mother were silent, listening to all Aurora said. She had definitely suffered and had been abused. Her arranged marriage ended so shamefully to pave the way for her stepsister. It's a cruel world.
  • Where would she have gone if she hadn't bumped into Rosa that day? No wonder she said she has no home.
  • "We are not that rich like where you are coming from, but rest assured you will find a family with us. Stay here as long as you want and find your feet again.
  • You have to be strong and live your life not for anyone now but yourself. The best is yet to come, my dear. Please don't let their evilness get to you," Rosa's mother coaxed.
  • That way, Aurora lived with Rosa and her family for a month and a half.

  • Ethan sent men everywhere to find Aurora. He wanted to compensate her for what happened.
  • He didn't hate her or intend to do such wickedness to her; he was only following the manuscript. He was acting according to the script. Just to offer her something to help her find a source of livelihood.
  • But he searched everywhere and found no trace of Aurora Blake. His men couldn't find her either, and he was worried about her.
  • Had she done anything harmful to herself or left the city? He became moody for days.
  • Sara began to observe him. What was wrong with her husband? This was not his usual demeanor. Why did he look so worried?
  • What was wrong with him? Was he missing Aurora? No, that couldn't be it. He didn't like her a bit, and they had never been intimate with each other.
  • While he was still in his feigned marriage with her sister, she was already having sex with Ethan. Everywhere and anywhere, they got entangled and wouldn't let go of each other until they had satisfied themselves.
  • While they were doing this, Aurora still thought of herself as Ethan's wife. She was his wife in name, but Sara was his in soul and body.
  • She decided to ask Ethan what was bothering him, and he said he was worried because the company had sent out some proposals to clients, and he hadn't received any feedback.
  • He lied.
  • Sara sighed softly. That must be it. She knew it couldn't be because of Aurora. She told him that everything would be alright.
  • They would send a reminder to those clients and see if they would reply again. Ethan smiled and said he was confident in her abilities. She was so intelligent.
  • **
  • Rosa was able to get a job for Aurora in her company. She was to start on the Monday of the following week and pick up her appointment.
  • But Aurora observed she was late that month for her period. It had been two weeks already since she was supposed to see her monthly friend, and there seemed to be a delay.
  • She had sleepless nights ruminating over it and was afraid it was what she suspected. When the whole thing happened, she was too moody to think of contraceptives.
  • If Ethan and Sara had paid a hooker to take her, wouldn't they have advised that he should use a condom at least? Weren't they afraid that hookers might be carriers of STDs? Did they not care about her safety as well?
  • When Rosa went to work, Aurora decided to sneak out. She went to a nearby hospital and asked to run a pregnancy test.
  • The waiting period from when her sample was collected to when the result was out was the longest time Aurora had waited in her life.
  • Why was it taking so long to run a pregnancy test? Were these people competent at all? Aurora questioned quietly.
  • When the doctor finally invited her to his office, he gave her the report, and Aurora's hands were shaking.
  • Wasn't she complaining a while ago that it was taking them too long to present her the result? Now she had the result, and her hands were shivering.
  • The doctor glanced at her. Women who suddenly sweat under the air conditioner when they are offered pregnancy test results are often those who got pregnant illegitimately.
  • "What's written inside the result, doctor?" Aurora asked.
