Chapter 12 Are You Our Daddy?

  • As expected, they allowed other bidders a chance. The young master of the Wilson family offered 1 million dollars for the same jewelry.
  • "1.5 million dollars," Ethan countered.
  • "2 million dollars," the young master from the Wilson family increased the bid.
  • Everyone applauded the highest bidder, but Ethan wouldn’t be looked down upon.
  • "3 million dollars," Ethan raised the bid, and the hall erupted with applause. Sara smiled. Her husband was going to buy her such expensive jewelry.
  • "4 million dollars," the young master of the Wilson family shouted out.
  • Ethan began to sweat inwardly. How could he back down now?
  • He wasn't as wealthy as the Wilson family. The Blake's business hadn't been doing well recently, and he couldn't spend so many millions on a mere piece of jewelry that wasn't worth more than a few hundred dollars.
  • "Anyone else with a better bid?" The voice from the microphone echoed, and Sara's eyes welled with tears. She tugged on Ethan's sleeve.
  • She was going to make a show before Aurora Blake. If Ethan backed down, she would lose face completely in front of her sister.
  • Aurora couldn't help but let her lips curve up in mockery. What a foolish couple, trying to compete with those wealthier than them.
  • Suddenly, Ethan felt he was losing face and shouted, "5 million dollars!"
  • The applause filled the room. He smiled, feeling on top of the world.
  • "Is that Thompson fellow an idiot?" Lucas whispered to Aurora. How could someone be bidding against such a rich young master when he knew he couldn't match his status?
  • "He's always been an idiot, Lucas," Aurora confirmed. She was closer to the jewelry and already saw that it wasn't made of gold or any other precious stones at all.
  • Its designs were cute, crafted by the best jewelry designer in Italy. But in quality, it was nothing but a mere shambles.
  • "10 million dollars!" Young master Wilson suddenly declared, and the applause echoed in the air.
  • Ethan knew he couldn't go any further. He raised his hands in defeat, and the young master of Wilson acquired the item.
  • Aurora stared at the couple, and deliberately let the wicked grin linger on her chin.
  • Sara felt utterly disappointed. Her husband couldn't buy jewelry worth 20 million dollars for her in front of everyone present.
  • Aurora was already mocking them. She would likely consider them poor. Sara vowed to get even with Ethan once they left the auction.
  • "I will recreate this exact design and many more like it," Aurora whispered to Lucas. The latter was shocked and turned to give her a thorough stare.
  • "You can do that?" Lucas asked incredulously. If Aurora could design something like this, then their company would be competing in the world of design with those in Italy and Spain.
  • "Are you sure?" he questioned again. Aurora would undoubtedly be a valuable asset to the Harrington Group. He decided to invite Aurora to his family's dinner during the weekend.

  • "You are so incapable of being my husband. You couldn't even buy that jewelry for me, even if it were 20 million dollars, right there at the auction?" Sara snapped at Ethan as soon as they got into the car.
  • "That money could have been more useful to help the company rise a bit. We're almost going bankrupt, and you're thinking of splurging on such useless jewelry?" Ethan replied, his irritation evident.
  • What kind of senseless woman was Sara? She had a house full of gold and diamond jewelry, all expensive and rare.
  • All the expensive and designer jewelry that Aurora Blake had, automatically became hers after the divorce. Aurora wasn't allowed to take anything out of the house, not even a needle.
  • Yet, all those jewels were not enough, and she wanted to buy something useless that couldn't hold a candle to what she already had.
  • "Aurora Blake was mocking us. She was happy that we don't have money and wealth like the young master of the Wilson family," Sara complained.
  • "But that's the truth. Aren't the Wilson family richer than the Blakes and the Thompsons? So, what's the big deal if Aurora Blake mocks us?" Ethan retorted.
  • He knew it was because of Aurora Blake that Sara wanted the jewelry. She was going to use it to show off before Aurora Blake.
  • It was his fault. He shouldn't have listened to her nonsense when she asked him to. She had pushed him into a situation where he lost face.
  • Just then, Aurora passed in front of their car and slid into the same car with Lucas Harrington. He was going to drop her off at her place before going home.
  • But Aurora said her car was at the company. He should drop her off there. Lucas agreed and instructed the chauffeur to drive to the Harrington Group.
  • Aurora got her car and went straight to Rosa's place. But Rosa and Christopher had gone for dinner and they told her to go home.
  • They would drop the kids off at her place before returning home. Aurora then returned home and prepared herself a sumptuous meal.
  • She was glad she was able to meet new people. It was great fun, and Mr. Clinton introducing her to influential people was a breakthrough for her to climb to the top in her profession.
  • **
  • Rosa and Christopher went to the most classic restaurant in the city. The two kids were like their own children.
  • Rosa picked dishes for them, and Christopher poured their drinks. They looked like a proper family. No one doubted that they were the kids' parents.
  • They ate to their fill, and Tim stood up to use the restroom. Lee also said he was going to use the restroom. Christopher told Lee to wait for his brother before going, but Lee said he couldn't wait, or else he would pee in his pants.
  • Rosa told Christopher to let him go with his brother. That way, the little fellow hurried after his brother in the direction of the restroom.
  • Alexander Harrington arrived in town earlier than the date he said he was coming and stopped at the restaurant to have dinner.
  • He was with his assistant Pascal Lee and his two bodyguards. He had eaten and went to the restroom to relieve himself when he stumbled upon two boys at the entrance.
  • In fact, they almost got knocked down by him. His two bodyguards quickly saved the situation when they rushed forward to support the boys and help them regain their stability.
  • By the time he saw the boys, he was stunned and speechless. The boys were a miniature version of himself, with the same hairstyle, staring at him in amazement.
  • His bodyguards exchanged glances. What was going on? Who were these boys, and why did they look exactly like the boss? Did Master Alexander Harrington have children that he didn't know of?
  • The adults and children stood transfixed in their spots.
  • Tim knew this man must be their father. He and his brother had been planning to find out who their father was and locate him.
  • But the man standing in front of them was likely their father or uncle. He turned and glanced at his brother, and the latter shrugged.
  • Their mother had told them she didn't know who their Daddy was. She was pregnant and gave birth to them, but she might not be interested in finding out who their father was.
  • But they wanted to be with their Daddy like other children. They saw how other children's daddies would take them out and buy this and that for them, but they had no Daddy and had never experienced what it was like to have one.
  • "Who's your mother?" Alexander Harrington asked in a calm yet domineering tone. There was only one woman who could have his child, and he had been looking for her for the past four years and three months.
  • He had a one night stand with that woman on that cold night. He wanted to meet her. He had left her before dawn and when Pascal Lee got to that room, she was gone.
  • His question brought Tim out of his thoughts.
  • He raised his head and looked at the bigger version of himself and his twin brother.
  • Before answering, Lee Blake asked with a bright smile, "Are you our real dad?" He seemed ready to jump over to him and hug him.
