Chapter 6 Aurora's Return

  • "I went to country X. I'm sorry I left the way I did. I couldn't think of a better alternative, and telling you what was happening... you and Aunt might not have wanted me to leave. That's why I left when no one was home to stop me," Aurora apologized.
  • “I have left to become a stronger woman. And I need space. You shouldn’t have worried about me, Rosa,” Aurora explained.
  • They didn't ask her any more questions. The kids were there, and they needed to apply caution. Aurora settled into the guest room, and soon Rosa's mother prepared dinner for them.
  • After dinner, Aurora read bedtime stories for the kids while Rosa watched her sing them to sleep. She smiled; her friend had become a mother.
  • Aurora saw her friend smiling at the kids and smiled too. Seeing people admire the boys was no longer new to her.
  • When they were babies, she couldn't remember the number of times people pleaded to carry them. Many gave them gifts, money, and clothes.
  • She knew her boys were cute, and anyone who saw them liked them a lot.
  • "I know they are your sons without being told. Was it that incident that led to your pregnancy?" Rosa asked.
  • Aurora nodded and stood up, pulling Rosa along to the sitting room. She was going to tell everyone how her life had been for the past four years.
  • Rosa's mother knew Aurora was going to share her story after the children fell asleep. She wasn't surprised to see Aurora and Rosa walking out hand in hand.
  • Aurora took a seat, with Rosa sitting opposite her. Rosa's brother, James, had gone out to play computer games with his friends.
  • "I will always be grateful to you, Aunt, and Rosa, for being my support during the darkest time of my life. I believe I will never experience such profound darkness as I did four years ago.
  • I discovered I was pregnant when I went for a check-up at the hospital. I was at a loss about what to do. I had no money, no job, and I didn't know the person who impregnated me.
  • But the doctor who attended to me took it upon himself to check on me later. I confided in him about everything that happened, and he decided to seek help from his foster parents.
  • They live in Country X. They agreed and promised to take care of me and the pregnancy. So, I obtained a visa and traveled there without informing you.
  • They welcomed me, and I even found a job there. I had some savings, and my doctor friend came to visit and stayed with me for two weeks.
  • They looked after me until I gave birth to my babies. His mother took over as the boys' nanny and caretaker while I worked to save money for my return.
  • After three years, I decided the boys had grown a bit, and I needed to come back home. I told my friend, Christopher, about my plans, and he said he would inform me once he helped me secure a job.
  • Last week, he called me and informed me that I had been offered a position as an executive designer at the Harrington Group, and here I am," Aurora explained briefly.
  • Tears welled up in Rosa's eyes. So much had happened in the past four years. If Aurora had told her she was pregnant, she wouldn't have allowed her to leave.
  • "You could have at least contacted us since you left, Aurora. I wondered if we had hurt you in any way without knowing. But I believe your return marks the beginning of a new life for you, Aurora. You and your sons will live life to the fullest.
  • We would like to meet your friend, Doctor Christopher. Some good people can't help but bring their kindness into their work, and such people need to be appreciated," Rosa's mother chimed.
  • She was glad that Aurora made the wise decision to keep her babies. Some girls would have chosen to terminate the pregnancy, but she didn't. She would be a great mother, and her children would be the most important thing that ever happened in her life.
  • Aurora assured them she would convey their appreciation to Christopher and invite him over. She also mentioned that she would be purchasing a house tomorrow, as recommended by Christopher.
  • She planned to move out with her boys the next day and start her new job the day after. She asked Rosa to accompany her to see the house.
  • Rosa agreed and joked that she was trusting Aurora too easily again. She teased that Aurora might suddenly take the boys and disappear from the house again.
  • They all laughed, and Rosa's mother said she doubted it. Aurora wouldn't behave childishly anymore.
  • After a while, Rosa's mother left the two friends to catch up on old times. The first question Aurora asked was about Rosa's relationship with her boyfriend.
  • Rosa chuckled softly and sighed, “Well, he had been seeing someone else without my knowledge. One day, he invited me to lunch and broke the news of our breakup.
  • He apologized for leading me to believe we would eventually get married and for breaking my trust and giving me false feelings of love. “
  • “He told me he didn't love me anymore. He was already seeing someone else and realized he had to let me go," Rosa said, her voice tinged with sadness.
  • Aurora consoled her and assured her that she would eventually meet the right person. Sometimes, the wrong one must leave so the right one can enter their life.
  • She wished for Rosa to find true love and eventually tie the knot. As for herself, she claimed she was done with men. She didn't need them anymore. Her focus was on living her life with her sons and giving them the love of a father, if not the actual presence of one.
  • She wasn't sure if romantic love existed for her anymore. It was Rosa's turn to find happiness. The two friends then reminisced about old times before saying goodnight and retiring to their rooms.
  • That night, it took Aurora a while to fall asleep. She pondered over her life four years ago.
  • Ethan and Sara must be living happily now. Her sister seemed to find it convenient to take her man away without hesitation.
  • She and her ex-husband don't really have any feelings for each other. He could have cheated on her with anyone, but that woman shouldn't have been her sister.
  • Molly had truly poisoned Sara's mind against her. The sister she knew and grew up with loved her deeply. No one would believe they were not from the same mother.
  • Their father had always treated them like twins. Whatever he bought for Aurora, Sara received the same. If he couldn't get two, he wouldn't buy it.
  • As a result, they both grew up, seeking the same things for each other. However, their father's death changed everything.
  • Karma would catch up with Molly for what she's done to her and her sister. She would surely regret it someday.
  • While Aurora thought Sara and Ethan were happy, something else troubled them.
