• Leaving my pack behind feels wrong, but Cain assures me and Chelsey that everything is in order and that they can survive without me for a few days. I'd never admit it, but he's done a good job of protecting my pack while I couldn't. I'd never trained Chad, my beta, because I didn't think I'd need to. When I fell, he probably lost it due to panic... I'd still be down if it weren't for this lovely lady beside me.
• She is sitting in the back of an SUV, between Cain and myself, and I can hear her heart thumping wildly as she looks between us both. Cain has her hand on her thigh, and I decide that if we're really trying to figure out what she wants to do, maybe I can do what I want.
