Chapter 19

• Chelsey's point of view.
• Cain's anxiety is palpable as we drive back to our house. His grip on the steering wheel is tighter, and his gaze is drawn to the tree lines around us. I'm doing the same thing. Why has he returned? What has he returned for? Is it my fault? Or is he upset with Cain because he rejected him as Beta? Cain reaches over and places his hand on my thigh to stop it from jigging. I take a deep breath and return my gaze to my father, who appears equally concerned about the events.
