Chapter 9 Hidden Feelings

  • He blinked with his long eyelashes, which concealed his slightly frantic gaze.
  • When he looked up at Arthur, his voice was slightly confident. "Have you learned computer programming, Mr. Adrian?"
  • "Mm. I saw that you programmed it yourself. Did someone teach you?"
  • Paxton didn't want to tell Arthur. He shook his head and answered confidently, "No. I learned it on my own."
  • He wasn't willing to discuss it.
  • Arthur didn't ask further. He looked at the familiar computer interface on the corner of the table and asked, "I speculate in stocks too. Do you want to discuss it together?"
  • Paxton's eyes lit up, and he nodded furiously. He opened the stock market web page and discussed it excitedly with Arthur.
  • In the kitchen, Luna was still preparing the late-night meal.
  • Since there were another two men, she had specially ordered fresh crayfish online to cook them.
  • In the living room, Adrian was bored. He looked at the crayfish in the water and said, "Why don't I help you wash the crayfish?"
  • Luna waved her hands. "It's alright. I can manage."
  • At that moment, Adrian's cell phone rang.
  • He looked at Luna apologetically before answering the call.
  • After a moment, Adrian reappeared in the kitchen while holding his cell phone. "Luna, I have two friends downstairs. I'll be…"
  • Before he could finish speaking, Luna looked up and said, "Let's eat together. Do they mind?"
  • "Of course not!" Adrian gulped as he looked at the crayfish in the water. He really wanted to eat them.
  • Around ten minutes later, a noise came from the outside.
  • Adrian led two people in and greeted Luna in the kitchen. "Luna Smith, this is Glenn Egan and Harper Rasche."
  • "Hello!" Luna turned and smiled lightly as she greeted them.
  • "Luna?" The man in the gray leisurewear looked at Luna in astonishment. The joy in his eyes was unconcealable. "Is it really you?"
  • Luna tilted her head as she tried hard to recall, but she didn't know who the man was.
  • "I'm Glenn. I'm two years older than you," Glenn said excitedly.
  • Luna still couldn't recognize him. She shook her head. "I'm sorry. I really can't remember."
  • "A chubby boy was being bullied and extorted by some hooligans at the wall behind the south gate in high school. You rushed out and said you called the police. You were even beaten up to protect me, and your face was swollen…"
  • Before Glenn could finish speaking, Luna remembered.
  • Upon looking at the refined and gentle Glenn at present, Luna was surprised. "You were that chubby boy!"
  • Glenn breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Luna finally remembered him. "You finally remember me!"
  • Adrian patted Glenn's shoulder and was on guard. "I never thought you knew each other."
  • Luna has many good men around her. She will run off with someone else if Arthur doesn't work hard!
  • Glenn's gaze was fixed on Luna. Upon closer inspection, there were hidden feelings in his eyes.
  • At the side, there was a smile on Harper's exquisite face. "Hello, Ms. Smith. I'm Harper. Sorry to trouble you tonight."
  • "It's no trouble at all." Luna smiled. "You don't have to call me Ms. Smith. You can call me Luna. Have a seat. I'm almost done."
  • Harper and Adrian went to the living room while Glenn stayed.
  • He followed Luna into the kitchen and asked concernedly, "I wrote you a letter after high school, but I didn't receive a reply. Something happened at home while I was in college. When I returned to look for you, something happened to you."
  • "You knew about it?" Luna was peeling garlic and was calm, as though they were talking about someone else.
  • "I believe all of it is fake. I've been looking for you these years. I contacted your past teachers and classmates, but no one knew where you were."
  • "It's in the past." Luna looked up. She didn't want to talk about it.
  • Her biological dad was a scum. She was embarrassed to even talk about it.
  • A cough suddenly rang outside the door.
  • They didn't know when Arthur had appeared. Standing by the door, he looked at the two speaking softly in the kitchen. They were both attractive and looked good standing together. It was an eyesore to him.
  • He stood at the kitchen entrance, and his expression was stiff. He suddenly said, "I don't eat spicy food."
  • Luna paused as she was washing vegetables. She looked at the red pepper flakes at the side…
  • This man is so demanding!
  • Twenty minutes later, a few plates of crayfish boil, cornbread, wings, and other snacks were on the table.
  • Paxton and Daxton sat near Arthur. Adrian, Glenn, and Harper sat together. Only the seat next to Arthur was empty.
  • Luna sat and said, "I made everything, but it might not be that good. Eat up."
  • "No way! I think it's delicious!"
  • Harper ate the crayfish and had a satisfied expression. "I haven't had such authentic crayfish boil in a long time."
  • Luna peeled a crayfish. Out of the corner of her eyes, she realized Arthur had yet to start eating. She asked, "Is it not to your liking, Mr. Finch?"
  • "I've never eaten crayfish. I'm looking at how to peel them." Arthur wrinkled his brows slightly when he saw everyone else's hands stained by the sauce.
  • "It's straightforward. Hold the head and tail and gently tug it. The crayfish flesh will come out…"
  • As she showed Arthur the unpeeled crayfish, her fingers felt wet at the next moment.
  • Did Arthur eat the crayfish in my hands?
