Chapter 10 I Would Have Thought You Were a Family

  • Luna's fingers felt soft and numb. She immediately pulled her hands back.
  • The others, chatting and laughing, looked at Luna and Arthur simultaneously.
  • Arthur didn't spend much time with women. Other than his younger sister, Andrea Finch, there were rarely any women around him.
  • Arthur squinted and jeered. "Bro, you're acting strange!"
  • "Not only is he acting strange, but Arthur is also known for not interacting with women." Harper smiled with a teasing gaze.
  • Arthur raised his brows indifferently.
  • "If you don't know how to peel crayfish, Mr. Handsome, I'll help you." Daxton, who always loved to eat, peeled a crayfish and put it on Arthur's plate.
  • Meanwhile, Paxton, who had been silent all along, quietly peeled a few crayfish and placed them on a plate before pushing them before Arthur.
  • "This isn't spicy," Paxton said coolly.
  • Luna came to her senses and realized the two kids were siding with him without her noticing.
  • "Thank you." Arthur's tone softened when he saw the plate full of crayfish.
  • Harper looked enviously at Arthur and said teasingly, "I would have thought you were a family!"
  • Upon hearing it, Luna's gaze fell on Arthur and the twins.
  • "It does seem that way. Pax and Dax do look like my brother."
  • Arthur had felt the same when he first saw Paxton and Daxton.
  • At that moment, Glenn looked at Luna and suddenly asked, "I didn't get to ask you just now. Why don't I see your husband?"
  • Before Luna could answer, Daxton said in a babyish voice, "Mr. Egan, we don't have a daddy."
  • "I'm sorry. I didn't know…" Glenn looked at Luna guiltily.
  • Luna gulped her beer as if no one else was present. "It's fine. Actually, I don't know who the stupid man is."
  • Paxton hadn't been very hungry, to begin with. He ate a little before pulling Daxton back to their room.
  • Everyone spoke much more freely in the dining room without the children.
  • Glenn drank a little and grew bold from the alcohol. He asked Luna, "What do you plan to do in the future?"
  • "I'll see where life takes me." Luna furrowed her brows. She faintly understood what Glenn meant.
  • As expected, Glenn looked at Luna firmly at the next moment. "What do you think of me? I've never forgotten you all these years."
  • Adrian was caught off guard by this. He choked on his beer and coughed violently.
  • Good heavens! Someone is already being a threat before Luna can even settle down!
  • Glenn was known as one of the three good men in show business. He became famous at a young age and received the title of best actor with Adrian when he was twenty-four.
  • "You've drunk too much." Harper nudged Glenn and reminded him, "Go to a restaurant with better ambiance next time and buy her a meal before you confess your feelings for her. Take note of the setting."
  • "I…" Glenn held his beer. The beer made his eyes red. He wanted to say something but stopped.
  • Arthur gripped his utensils tightly. The cornbread he was eating felt dry and tasteless.
  • The scene of Luna and Glenn speaking softly in the kitchen before they started eating appeared in his mind. Arthur put his cutlery down sullenly.
  • After Glenn's outburst, everyone ate silently for the rest of their meal. They helped to clean up before leaving.
  • Only Arthur came back after leaving. "This is a present for Pax and Dax."
  • "No need. It's just a late-night meal." Luna turned him down. She didn't want to be too involved with Arthur.
  • "It's a welcome gift," Arthur said succinctly. He added, "It's for the children. You have no right to turn me down."
  • Luna frowned. She knew the children loved him. They might have been distraught if they knew she had turned down a present from Arthur.
  • But Arthur's commanding tone made her uncomfortable.
  • Therefore, Luna reluctantly accepted it. She wanted to return the favor in a different way next time.
  • After she shut the door, she couldn't stand the smoky and greasy odor, so she showered again.
  • Her cell phone on the table rang after she exited the bathroom.
  • Adrian's voice was worried. "Luna, can I trouble you with something? My brother is having stomach trouble. You have medical expertise. Can you please take care of him? The first aid kit is next to the refrigerator."
  • "Alright. I'll go there now." Luna heard the noise on the other end. It was very noisy with many people talking.
  • It looked like he couldn't leave immediately, so he asked for her help as a neighbor.
  • After hanging up, Luna changed her clothes and headed next door.
  • She knocked for close to three minutes before the door opened.
  • Arthur leaned against the door with a pale face. Luna explained, "Adrian called to say you're having stomach troubles…"
  • Before she could finish speaking, Arthur covered his stomach and slowly fell to the ground before her.
