• "What the hell am I doing here?" Edwin muttered under his breath, pacing frenetically outside Lance's gate. The actor's initial bravado had evaporated, replaced by a churning mix of anxiety and indecision. He had stormed out of his own house, fully intent on giving Lance a piece of his mind, but now, faced with the prospect of actually confronting the footballer, his courage was rapidly deserting him.
• Lance, pulling up to his driveway, was stunned to see Edwin's familiar figure. His heart leapt, a combination of surprise and delight coursing through him. He hadn't expected to see the actor so soon, especially after Edwin's dramatic exit earlier.
