• She snaps a shot of Shane as he waves the flag when Nicholas passes by, pleased that she perfectly captured the look of joy on his face. When she looks up from the digital image on her camera, Tawny is standing in front of her, a cool, calculating look in her frosty blue eyes. Annabelle gives her a cautious but courteous smile despite Tawny's obvious censure.
• When Tawny just stands there and stares at her, Annabelle decides to make the first move. Tawny's attempt at intimidation is ineffective, and Annabelle prays that for once in her life, she can have that quick wit she always thinks about after the fact, because she thinks she's going to need it. “Can I help you?”
