Chapter 24

• Annabelle knew, if she were the intelligent woman that she claimed to be, she would step back a moment and rationally assess the situation. She'd realize that Nicholas was a guy used to getting what he wanted without preamble or precaution. And at this time, he wanted her. He had tried the direct, get-to-the-point approach and basically had her up against a wall within ten minutes of meeting him. He'd tried coercion, a contract, annoyance, and even admitted he didn't do girlfriends, commitment, or relationships. The rational part of her would acknowledge these facts and realize he had failed the challenge thus far, so now he was moving onto seduction. She'd argue that he was changing his approach now, taking his time by making her feel and making her want him. Letting her think this situation was on her terms now. She'd realize that this had nothing to do with emotions and wanting ‘an after’ with her, but rather he was trying to get her in his bed any way he could now.
• But she wasn't listening to her rational self and the snarky doubts she was trying to cast. She vaguely pushed away the niggling feeling that she was trying to force into her subconscious, for her common sense had long been forgotten. It had been overrun, inundated, and was being thoroughly obliterated by her new addiction, otherwise known as Nicholas’s mouth. His mouth worshipped hers with slow, leisurely licks of tongue, grazes of teeth, and caresses of lips.
• “Uh-uh-uh,” he teased against her lips as she threaded her fingers. through his hair at the back of his neck and tried to pull him closer so that she could give into the blistering need he had built inside of her and take more.
