Chapter 340

• One Saturday night in the middle of my senior year, I was at a friend’s party with Frank, my boyfriend at the time, who was also a senior. It was a loud, raucous party, with a ton of people.... mostly seniors, and some of their friends who had already graduated. My boyfriend and I tended to run in different friend crowds, so we headed off in different directions almost as soon as we arrived.
• I was having a great time with my friends... drinking, dancing and gossiping... when I bumped into someone as I was heading to the keg for another beer. When I turned to apologize, I saw that it was Keith. Having graduated just the previous spring, he still had several friends around town and in school, so it made sense that he’d be invited to this party, but for some reason it caught me totally by surprise.
• My face lit up... I was really excited to see him... and from the look on his face, it seemed that he was pretty happy to see me, as well. We tried to catch up a bit, but we were finding it hard to have a conversation amid the loud music and crush of people, so we had to lean in and almost yell into each other’s ears.
