• Though it sounds silly, I get excited driving to his house. I can't help but think about how much fun we have as I turn onto his street, eager to give him the book I've been working on. I can't say the plot is really something to brag about, but he enjoyed reading it, so I'm happy to give him a hand-bound copy. As I pull up, I see him standing outside with his brothers and their friends. As if my arrival is their cue, they quickly jump into their respective cars and pull away before I can even say hello.
