Chapter 8 He Is Not My Son

  • With her eyes wide open, Yanira covered her mouth and frantically looked around her. "I was with my mom, but she was walking too slow, so I lost her…" She sympathetically described how she got lost.
  • Upon hearing that, Abbie quickly turned around and hid behind a pillar, thinking it was best for her to avoid meeting Liam. After all, she was afraid that Liam would investigate Yanira's background if he found out how old she was. Furthermore, she didn't return home for anything related to the Henderson Family this time, as she would leave the country as soon as she was done with her business. Therefore, she reckoned it was better for her not to get in touch with Liam at all.
  • Yanira looked around her but failed to notice the familiar face she was looking for. Thus, she tearfully looked at the man and said, "Sir, I think I'm lost, and I can't find my mom."
  • "What's her name?"
  • "Linda."
  • Hmm. Linda. Due to the overwhelming number of international flights at the airport, Liam believed Yanira's mother could be a foreigner, not to mention her adorable appearance. He then instructed his subordinates to help search for Yanira's mother.
  • "I'm a little hungry. Could you take me to a restaurant or something?"
  • Although Liam didn't think he was a kind-hearted person, he somehow couldn't reject Yanira at the sight of her sympathetic appearance. "Alright." He carried the child in his arms right in front of the press and walked away.
  • Meanwhile, Abbie curled her lips upward as she watched the interaction between Yanira and Liam. Since Yanira couldn't understand Castonian well, her mother gave her an Ewish name and often used that in almost every registration. Soon, she sent Yanira a message and told her to make a move in a few more moments, trusting her daughter would do the right thing.
  • While Riley was on her way to meet up with Abbie at the restaurant next to the airport, Abbie walked past another restaurant and was greeted by a child who came running her way. While the child looked like she hailed from a rural village, the clothes that he was wearing seemed to be of good quality. However, there were a few visible holes in the fabric as his face was covered with filth and dirt.
  • Now, whose child is this again? Abbie was going to ignore the child, but the latter came running away before he seemingly fell toward her on purpose. Prompted by her natural reflexes, she quickly caught the child. At the same time, she met the child's bright eyes and caught his pleasant body scent that wafted from the kid. He smells good, not to mention his good looks. But why does he look so familiar?
  • Soon, a few waiters came running out of the restaurant in an angry manner. "Are you his mother? He stole the food from the table and ran off, so you'll have to pay and apologize."
  • Abbie curled her lips upward as she was about to deny it, but the child gave her a hug and called out to her. "Mom!"
  • Sensing the waiters' adamant attitude in demanding the payment, Abbie felt speechless as she had no choice but to interfere in the matter for the child since everyone else had no intention of doing so.
  • "How much is it?"
  • "A hundred and fifty. He pissed off two of our customers."
  • Although Abbie could afford the food, she couldn't help but feel conned by the child when she saw the waiters taking her money away. In the meantime, the child continued to indulge himself in Abbie's arms, even dirtying Abbie's clothes with the filth that covered his skin. "Can you let go of me now?" Abbie pinched the soft skin on the child's face, speaking with a gentle tone. "You mustn't do this again. Are you clear?"
  • The child grunted and hugged Abbie even tighter, shouting, "Mom!"
  • "I have a child, but it's not you. Where are your parents? Let me take you to them." Abbie felt as if she was beginning to sound like Liam.
  • "I'll go wherever you go, Mom," the child replied.
  • This kid may be mentally unsound. Abbie thought to herself. Not long after that, a lady wearing a sexy red skirt came running toward her. "Hello, Abbie. Do you know how much I've missed you? You're finally back in Castonia."
  • Realizing it was her bestie, Riley, Abbie seemed to lighten up a little. "Long time no see."
  • "Why haven't you changed at all, even though it's been six years? Your skin still looks as good as it used to. How did you do that? Come on, tell me your secret!" Riley expressed her envy for Abbie's youthful look, stretching out her arm to pinch Abbie's face, but before she could touch it, she suddenly felt someone kicking her leg. "Ouch!" It was then that she looked down and saw a boy standing on the ground.
  • "Take your hands off my mom!" the boy shouted.
  • "What happened to Yanira? Why does she look so much like a boy now?"
  • Having had a video call with Abbie multiple times in the past, Riley knew what Yanira looked like. Therefore, she knew how different Yanira looked from the boy, although both children were about the same age and good-looking. "You're not Yanira." Riley could tell that the child wasn't Yanira as she gazed at Abbie unhappily. "Come on, how could you not tell me that you have a son?"
  • "He is not my son…" Abbie sounded helpless.
  • "He calls you 'Mom', so how can that be wrong, man?" Riley became even more annoyed. "That's no way to treat your son, Abbie."
  • Abbie was speechless in response to her friend's tease. Nonetheless, she bent over and stretched the child's eyes wide open with her fingertips, whereupon she went on to check his pulse. He is a healthy kid without any apparent disabilities. Wait a minute, could he be suffering from memory loss or something? But there is no sign of physical trauma.
  • "Here I come, Mom." A child was seen running from inside the airport as she happily scampered toward Abbie adorably.
  • Abbie rubbed her daughter's head. Although she had long grown tired of lecturing Yanira, she reckoned it was still necessary to warn her not to get so close to Liam. "Well, I don't mind if you talk to any handsome man, but not the one that you just approached, okay?"
  • Yanira blinked in confusion. "Why? That man treated me pretty well. He even bought me my favorite candy."
  • "Just listen to me, girl." Abbie caressed Yanira's head.
  • Despite the confusion, Yanira still nodded. She then happily shared the story between her and Liam with her mother. "Did you know, Mom? I sneaked away from that man when he said he was going to take me to the police station. At the same time, he also said his child went missing and seemingly had everybody search for him. So, I seized the opportunity to run away." Abbie replied with an affirmative hum, which put a smile on Yanira's face. As the child was about to hold her mother's hand, she quickly felt someone else's hand hitting her arm.
  • "Don't touch my mom!" The boy stood in front of Abbie, shielding her with his short stature.
  • Yanira was stunned, feeling confused about the existence of another 'brother'. "Who are you? She is my mother!"
  • "She is my mother too!" The boy stared at Yanira.
  • "What's going on? How come your daughter doesn't recognize this kid?" Riley couldn't help but feel confused.
  • Abbie helplessly looked at the child and said, "Hey kid, I'm really not your mom. What are your parents' names? Or can you tell me their phone numbers? Perhaps I could contact them for you."
