Chapter 3 The Rumor Has Spread Throughout the Social Circle

  • After work, Abbie went home and washed up quickly before going to bed. However, sometime later, another call came in. It was from Dylan.
  • "Boss, something came up at the bar, so we might need you—"
  • "Got it."
  • Abbie rubbed her temples. After a change of clothes, she headed straight for the bar.
  • The issue was neither big nor small. By the time the issue was resolved, an hour had already passed by. Abbie was about to leave when Dylan grinned and said, "Boss, since you're here anyway, why don't you party with us?"
  • Abbie finally realized that this was their main reason for getting her here.
  • She wasn't much interested at first, but since she had gotten up in the middle of the night, she was wide awake and didn't feel like sleeping anymore, so she nodded.
  • Dylan finally got what he wanted. "Great, I'll tell them to get ready. You're finally here to see the surprise we prepared, Boss."
  • Abbie wasn't expecting anything as she opened a bottle of wine and poured herself a glass.
  • She had just taken half a sip when she saw rows of men walking in from outside. She almost spat out the wine.
  • Dylan instantly said, "Boss, time is running out. We originally prepared a lot of them, but as time went on, this is all we have left. They all like working out, so they have great figures. See which one you like."
  • All sorts of men stood in front of Abbie, and most of them were bare-chested. Their shoulders were broad, their waists were narrow, and their legs were long too. They didn't look too bad.
  • Abbie's expression darkened. "Why did you get them here? Do I need a man?"
  • "We just want you to have fun, Boss. Hehe, there are all sorts of men in this world, and with your ability, it's a piece of cake for you to get as many men as you want."
  • Abbie ignored him, but then, she turned around and caught sight of a good-looking man smiling shyly at her. He was equal parts suggestive and seductive.
  • Abbie fell silent.
  • Are they men at all? They’re more akin to incubi, if anything.
  • Just then, the door slowly opened, and a pair of long slender legs strode in.
  • Dylan looked at the door as he said, "The newcomer, yes? You're so slow; if the person in charge hadn't put in a good word for you, I would never—"
  • Halfway through his words, he suddenly fell silent as he looked at the man, unable to make a sound.
  • Abbie finally got her peace. She didn't want to reply at first, but then, the footsteps led right up to her.
  • Abbie's gaze was lowered, so she only saw the man's legs. She said calmly, "Nice legs. Those are the best I've ever seen, and only one man I know can compare."
  • The man was none other than Liam.
  • They were together for ten years, so they knew each other to some extent. Liam's legs were truly a masterpiece, and she even touched the man's legs without his knowledge on a few occasions.
  • "Whom did you say can compare?"
  • The owner of those legs spoke up. His voice was low and dangerous.
  • Abbie looked up to see the man's stony gaze. Her slightly intoxicated brain instantly jolted awake as she immediately stood up.
  • "Why are you here?"
  • She took half a step back subconsciously. Liam didn't give her any chances to back off. He took one step closer to her as his dark eyes focused on her. "Looking for men?"
  • He glanced at the men in the room.
  • The people in the crowd shivered every time his gaze passed over them.
  • Abbie felt exasperated. She couldn't be bothered to answer, but she also didn't want Liam to think that she was that sort of woman.
  • She was about to explain when the door was hastily opened. A cheerful and handsome young man walked in—the kind who'd woo young ladies.
  • He headed straight for Abbie. "Cutie, I'm all yours."
  • Abbie instantly said, "Quit that nonsense. I don't know you at all."
  • The man smiled and winked at her with self-assured charm. "Hehe, we'll know each other well enough if we chat a little."
  • Great, now I have no way of clearing my name.
  • Abbie had already given up on explaining when Liam suddenly reached out and pulled her into his embrace. Then, he proceeded to pick her up bridal style.
  • Abbie was stunned. She struggled in the air, kicking her legs as she said, "Put me down!"
  • Liam didn't say a word as he left with her in his arms.
  • Only a room full of men remained, along with Dylan, who was frozen on the spot after getting glared at.
  • But he just wanted Abbie to have fun…
  • Abbie was carried up to a private room on the top floor. A crowd of bodyguards belonging to the Henderson Family was stationed at the door, and Abbie was brought right into the room.
  • In truth, Abbie didn't panic because the bar belonged to her. Nothing bad would happen to her while she was here.
  • "You—"
  • She was about to ask when her mouth was suddenly sealed shut.
  • Abbie widened her eyes.
  • Their suggestive breaths intersected, and a flame was instantly ignited.
  • Abbie finally found a chance to breathe. She wanted to push Liam away, but the latter only held her tighter.
  • "You just got divorced, but you're looking for men already?"
  • The man's low and hoarse voice was filled with a dangerous aura.
  • Abbie's expression was stiff. "I got divorced, so why can't I look for someone else?"
  • "What about me?"
  • The woman was bewildered. What did he mean by that?
  • Before Abbie could ask about it, the man had already sealed her mouth once again.
  • Later on, Abbie didn't have another chance to speak.
  • The temperature in the room gradually rose.
  • Abbie was a little reluctant and tired. However, they were too familiar with each other, and coupled with their tacit agreement, in the end, Abbie half-reluctantly went along with him. After all, he had already led her to this point.
  • The sky outside turned bright without them realizing it.
  • Abbie felt soreness in her entire body, but the culprit was still sleeping.
  • If they were at home, this would be the time for Abbie to wake up. Then, when Liam woke up afterward, a fresh and delicious breakfast would be waiting for him.
  • Habits were terrifying.
  • But there would be no breakfasts this time.
  • Abbie snorted. When she remembered the man's rough behavior last night, she took a piece of paper and left a note.
  • 'You've gotten worse at this. Put in more practice.'
  • Even though he was rough, it felt quite good anyway. Still, the pain of the aftermath was real.
  • Also, what was going on? Why would she sleep with the ex-husband she just got divorced from?
  • Abbie held her small hand against the man's face, resisting the urge to deal a blow to him as she left the private room.
  • Not long after she left, the man on the bed slowly opened his eyes.
  • Abbie made an enquiring call to the hospital, and they answered that Olivia was in decent condition.
  • Olivia was fine, so it seemed reasonable for Liam to go to Abbie. After all, men would have to get their needs fulfilled somehow, especially men like Liam.
  • Never mind, the man had given her 'free service' anyway, so she would just let it go.
  • Just then, a call came in. It was from her close friend in the social circle, the young lady of the Johnston Family, Riley Johnston.
  • "Abbie, I can't believe you actually slept with Liam! You go, girl!"
  • Abbie was bewildered.
  • "What are you talking about?"
  • Abbie was married to Liam in secret, so no one knew that they were already married. They also never attended gatherings together.
  • For now, perhaps only the Hendersons, the Marshalls, and Liam's assistant knew of her actual identity.
  • Abbie was surprised that Riley would know about this.
  • Riley laughed. "Quit pretending. The rumor has spread throughout the social circle already."
