Chapter 7 As if She Was His Daughter

  • Recognizing Abbie, the gynecologist was stunned to see her, but nonetheless, he still went on to perform a check-up on her as Liam requested.
  • As the check-up went on, Abbie cooperated well with the doctor and did everything as she was told. When it was over, Liam left with the doctor to retrieve the report. Then, Abbie suddenly sensed someone looking at her shortly before she noticed Olivia in the waiting area. While the lady appeared to be holding a report in her hand, Abbie could clearly see what was written on its cover. A gynecology report?
  • Although Olivia seemed to be recovering well after her surgery, her face was still pale. Nonetheless, her condition still appeared to be better than before, as it was clear that her face was written with happiness and joy.
  • "What a small world. I didn't think we'd run into each other right here," Abbie said.
  • When Olivia saw Abbie, she immediately became wary, covering her stomach with her hands. "Abbie, please give me a chance to be with Liam. Please! I'm begging you."
  • "Are you expecting?" Abbie curled her lips upward and looked at Olivia's stomach.
  • As Olivia nodded in embarrassment, Abbie sniggered and sized her up in an ambiguously sarcastic manner. "Liam was pretty desperate, wasn't he? How could he do such a thing to you despite your condition? It's almost like he was not worried about hurting you at all."
  • "I'm sorry. I didn't know you and Liam were…" Olivia bit her lip.
  • "Don't worry about that. There is nothing else between me and him ever since we divorced. So, his business is none of mine at all."
  • In response, Olivia reacted with a chilly smile after hearing from Abbie about her indifference toward Liam. Not long after that, she started to feel a cold aura coming closer to her from behind, but the moment she heard the voice, she knew who it was. At the same time, Abbie turned around and looked Liam in the eye, making the first move to respond. "So? How is the result?"
  • "You're healthy, and you're not pregnant." The man looked at Abbie with a heavy heart, as if he wasn't sure he should be happy or disappointed about the result. I bet Abbie should be happy now, right?
  • "Well, if there is nothing else important, I shall get going, I guess." Abbie turned around and left without any intention of sticking around.
  • "What's this?" Liam asked, noticing the report that Olivia was holding after Abbie left.
  • "Oh, this is for a friend," Olivia replied.
  • "I see." Liam didn't bother asking further. Instead, he only added, "You should stay home and rest due to your health."
  • Olivia nodded obediently. Not long after that, she secretly peeked in the direction in which Abbie left and asked, "If Abbie was pregnant, would you marry her?"
  • "No." Liam's gaze became unfathomable. "I won't marry any of the Marshalls."
  • It was then that Olivia heaved a sigh of relief as she walked to a corner where she was alone and sent Dylan a message to compliment him on his work. However, little did she know that Dylan was actually instructed by Abbie earlier to tamper with the result before Liam got his hands on the report.
  • "Seriously? You're pregnant, Boss? Does the child belong to the Henderson Family?" Dylan was stunned.
  • "Yeah." Abbie covered her stomach with her hands, her eyes filled with love and sympathy. After all, she had been dreaming of having her own child, although she never thought the father would be Liam. Nevertheless, she was going to accept her fate because she wasn't going to let Liam know about it anyway. Everything is going to be okay once I leave Castonia.
  • Six years later, a girl wearing a pink skirt was happily running in the forefront, her face brightening up with joy. "Hurry up, Mom. Riley has been waiting for us for a long time."
  • At the same time, the lady right behind the child slowly took off her sunglasses and revealed her appealing appearance. As she kept her head down, she seemed casual and sluggish yet unpredictable and dangerous. "I heard you. I heard you, okay? Stop rushing me, would you?" Abbie yawned, lugging two suitcases with one hand.
  • Meanwhile, there was a large crowd of people not far ahead Abbie frowned at the sight of that. While she was thinking of circling around the crowd, her daughter made her way toward those people instead. Therefore, she was forced to go after her daughter, only to hear a familiar voice. "I have no plans of getting married at the moment." Abbie paused at that moment and turned her attention to the crowd, whereupon she saw Liam in the center of the people.
  • As the person running the Henderson Group, Liam was able to bring his company to new heights under his leadership, which had long become the focus of the press. Therefore, although Abbie didn't intentionally do any digging about Liam's whereabouts, she had heard a lot about him. Hmm. I guess his company's outstanding performance has somewhat brought his personal life to the public's attention. That's probably why the press is always asking him when he will get married. After all, he is pretty close with Olivia, even having an illegitimate child with her. Anyway, that topic seems to be the issue that the press cares about finding out today.
  • Frustrated, Liam knitted his eyebrows in silence until he heard a voice from the crowd. "Mr. Henderson, I heard that you had an ex-wife whom you've never revealed to the public before, right? Are you both seriously divorced?"
  • Abbie clicked her tongue in annoyance, wondering how those people found out and asked about her existence even though it had been years since she divorced Liam. Just when she thought Liam wouldn't answer the question, she heard an affirmative hum from the man himself. "Yeah."
  • In spite of the man's terse reply that could have been easily missed, every single reporter, who was looking forward to a response, heard it loud and clear. Needless to say, Abbie also heard Liam's reaction, feeling surprised because she thought he would deny it.
  • However, the people in the crowd somehow began to seem panicky at that moment. "Watch out, kid."
  • "How did this girl get in here? Watch your step! Make sure you step on her."
  • "Don't push me. Now, stop moving, everybody!" As what seemed like a device dropped onto the ground, a child's cry was soon heard from the crowd.
  • Finding that voice familiar, Abbie looked at Liam and saw him bending over to carry a child, who was none other than her daughter—Yanira. Oops, so this is what their reunion is like! Abbie stood there and watched in disbelief.
  • "That man scares me." Yanira was tearing up, apparently frightened of being sandwiched in the crowd.
  • "Are you alright?" Liam carried the child in his arms, checking on her to see if she was okay.
  • Yanira shook her head. "I'm fine. Just a little scared, but now that I'm in your arms, I don't feel scared anymore."
  • Liam looked at the people around him. "Didn't anyone realize this kid just sneaked in here like that? Who is going to be responsible for it if anything happens to her?"
  • "Well, no one noticed the child, actually…"
  • "I'm sorry, Mr. Henderson…"
  • The reporters kept their heads down in embarrassment, just as Liam's bodyguards did the same. After all, they didn’t notice when and how the child got in.
  • Abbie curled her lips upward, knowing what her daughter was up to. Now, I see what my girl is trying to do. She must be trying to hit on that handsome man like usual, but she has no idea whom she's talking to. Apart from Abbie, no one else saw the child's cunning intention but only Liam's loving side.
  • "You're such a loving man, Mr. Henderson."
  • "I bet Mr. Henderson must have been a loving father at home, which is why he likes playing with children so much."
  • While the bystanders were complimenting Liam, he ignored them and only looked at the child. "Where are your parents?" Despite his dislike for children, it somehow seemed natural for him not to reject the child, as if she was his daughter.
