Chapter 5 The Troublemaker Cleared Things Up

  • "Liam." Olivia's eyes were shimmering with tears as she looked at the man pitifully. She seemed like she finally saw hope.
  • Riley pouted as she muttered under her breath, "Drama queen." Olivia is playing the victim.
  • Liam frowned deeply as he examined her. "Were you hurt?"
  • Olivia hastily explained, "No, but Gisselle got hurt. Abbie accidentally hurt Gisselle's hand."
  • "You're in poor health, so you shouldn't be here," Liam said, the hints of concern in his tone hard to miss.
  • Gisselle held her hand as she looked mockingly at Abbie. "Mr. Henderson, Olivia was in a bad mood, so we came here. She knew that you had stayed with another woman in the past, so she's still sad about that."
  • Liam looked upset, and Olivia's tiny face turned pale for a moment. Olivia instantly tugged at her bestie as she said, "Come on, Gisselle, stop talking. It's nothing."
  • Instead of stopping, Gisselle continued, "What do you mean, 'it's nothing'? You were crying for so long just now, and you finally felt better after I took you on a shopping trip."
  • "I—" Olivia lowered her head.
  • Even the toughest of men would melt at the sight of her pitiful behavior.
  • Abbie simply glanced at Olivia before looking away. She had thought about mimicking Olivia in the past so that she could please the man even better. After all, Olivia was Liam's secret lover, his first love.
  • However, Abbie only had to think about it to realize that she couldn't do it. It was too hypocritical for her.
  • It wasn't even a tenth as good as the gentle and reserved character she built. She was more satisfied with her character. As for Liam's answer at that moment…
  • "Who started the rumor?" Liam asked straight away.
  • Gisselle instantly said, "It has already spread throughout the social circle! Everyone knows about it."
  • Liam glanced nonchalantly at Abbie, the look in his eyes darkening. "I'll look into this matter."
  • Abbie curved her lips in a seemingly mocking manner. "I'm curious as well. This is obviously fake news, so who exactly started the rumors? Everyone ate it up too."
  • Liam narrowed his eyes. Though Riley was a little scared of Liam, she remained steadfast on Abbie's side. "Yes, there must have been a misunderstanding. Abbie will never be involved with Mr. Henderson."
  • The episode ended with Liam leaving the place, taking Olivia with him.
  • Abbie quickly got over this incident. Instead of thinking about those things, she would rather go shopping with Riley.
  • After the besties went their separate ways, Abbie entered the parking lot and remembered the incident again, for she caught sight of the troublemaker.
  • Olivia was standing right next to a car, and she had a warm and happy smile on her face. Beside her, Cedric was moving bags labeled with all sorts of brands, ranging from Gucci to Chanel.
  • It went without saying that Liam must have bought those things for her.
  • Abbie used to possess Liam's card as well, but she never used it.
  • Because even back then, she knew that Liam only wanted to spend money on a woman named Olivia Newman. He was willing to give Olivia luxurious cars and villas, which was the dream of many.
  • Abbie only glanced at Olivia before turning to leave. Olivia, however, caught sight of Abbie and walked over to her.
  • The woman had a gentle smile on her face. "Miss Marshall, Liam told me everything about the surgery. Thank you so much. Otherwise, I wouldn't be alive and keep Liam company anymore. Liam would be so sad."
  • Olivia kept talking about Liam. Was that how badly she wanted to be with that man?
  • Abbie said calmly, "I was paid to do it, so I'm only carrying out my duties. Even if I'm told to rescue a dog, I will do it as long as I'm paid."
  • Olivia's expression froze a little. The meaning behind Abbie's words was as clear as day. However, because of the character Olivia built, she couldn't express dissatisfaction.
  • Olivia took a deep breath. "I'm so sorry for misunderstanding you just now. Liam looked into the matter and found that an immature rich girl had started the rumors. She has received her due punishment."
  • "Oh, he didn't trace it back to you? Looks like he's still lacking."
  • A hint of shock flashed across Olivia's eyes. Abbie's expression was calm, as if she had already known everything from the start.
  • That can't be. Olivia had wiped out all the evidence, and Liam never even noticed. Yes, Abbie must be pulling my leg.
  • "I see that you're fond of jokes, Abbie. How can I possibly do such things?"
  • Abbie said calmly, "Stop getting so intimate with me. You're two years younger than me, so have some shame, for goodness' sake."
  • Women were sensitive about their age, and they especially hated it when they had to be reminded that they were older than another woman.
  • Olivia clenched her fists. She was about to say something when the man's footsteps rang out nearby once again.
  • A few men in suits were walking behind Liam.
  • "Deliver everything to the villa today." The man's low and cold voice was intercepted with waves of echoes. "Yes, of course. We'll select the newest and best styles."
  • The people behind Liam were all managers of the mall.
  • When Olivia saw Liam, she walked happily up to him and held his arm as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
  • "Liam, I've already told you that you don't have to be so nice to me. You don't have to buy everything in the store for me."
  • Liam didn't reply. Instead, he said, "You're still sick, so you shouldn't stay outside for too long."
  • Olivia put a hand to her mouth as she chuckled. There was a sweet expression on her face. "All right."
  • Olivia's attempt to show off didn't affect Abbie at all. Abbie even had the urge to yawn, and since she probably had no business here anymore, she decided to leave.
  • Abbie had just turned around to leave when Olivia coughed twice on purpose. Behind Abbie, the man's voice rang out again. "Abbie, wait."
  • Abbie stopped in her tracks and looked calmly at him. "What's the matter?"
  • "Olivia is feeling unwell, so come with us to the hospital and have a look at her," Liam said.
  • Abbie found it ridiculous. Wasn't it enough for him to get his ex-wife to cure his first love? Did she have to ensure Olivia's health as well?
  • "I'll need another 14 million for that," Abbie said calmly.
  • Liam frowned, upset for some reason. It wasn't because of money; the reason lay elsewhere.
  • He hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Sure."
  • Abbie snapped her fingers, satisfied. "Let's go, then. To the hospital!"
  • Abbie said that they were going to the hospital together, but they would be going in their separate cars. Abbie was about to start her car and leave when the door to the passenger seat opened. A man got in.
  • Abbie raised an eyebrow. "Anything else?"
  • Liam said, "I want to ask some questions about Olivia's illness."
  • Abbie gave an 'oh' as she started the car. "Sure. Ask away, Mr. Henderson. I'll tell you everything I know."
  • The mysterious dissatisfaction Liam felt in his heart grew stronger. More specifically, the feeling had been growing exponentially ever since they got divorced.
  • He didn't know why, though. People could talk about it all they wanted, but he didn't want her to misunderstand. "Abbie, in reality, Olivia is—"
