Chapter 4 Whose Prank?

  • Abbie narrowed her eyes. Liam had been secretly married to her for so many years, and no one knew anything about it, but the mere accident the night before was all over the internet.
  • Didn't he take any security measures?
  • As Abbie chatted with Riley, she sent a message to ask Dylan about everything she missed.
  • 'Boss, Liam had already deleted all the surveillance footage, and he had also bribed the people in the bar,' Dylan replied.
  • Abbie slightly raised her eyebrows. If that were the case, the information absolutely wouldn't make it out. But now, a supposed secret was already widely known. Interesting.
  • "Abbie, just tell me the truth. How long have you been with Liam? I'm your best friend, so you can't deceive me." Riley was still cooing over the phone.
  • Abbie coughed lightly and asked tentatively, "Were there photos? Why are you so sure?"
  • "Everyone's talking about it, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence."
  • "It's fake. It never happened," Abbie said straight away.
  • She sent a message to Cedric, telling him to look into this matter.
  • "Oh, it's fake?" Riley didn't think too much about it. However, she felt a little pitiful. "I thought that the Hendersons and the Marshalls were close. A few years back, someone even said that you're the wife Liam married in secret."
  • The upper-class society had always been talking about this because someone spotted Liam at the Civil Affairs Bureau. If the woman weren't completely concealed, including her face, the upper-class society would be thrown into chaos already.
  • Abbie's expression was calm. "I'm not. Liam has his first love."
  • "Right, our dear Abbie will never fancy a man who already has another woman in his heart. That's why we're all saying that Liam is a jerk. Back then, Olivia was overseas, so his secret wife couldn't have been her. But now, he's sticking to Olivia again."
  • On the other end of the line, Riley slapped herself on the forehead gently. "I was probably out of my mind to believe them. How can you possibly have anything to do with Liam?"
  • They were from completely different worlds, after all. Abbie's mind was undisturbed. She didn't need more people to know about her and Liam; it was all in the past now.
  • In the future, no one would know about it either.
  • A month later, Abbie and Riley were shopping at a mall. They had just entered a shop they frequented when Abbie heard a woman's strong voice ringing out.
  • "This outfit suits you, Olivia. You're so pretty."
  • Abbie turned to catch sight of Olivia, who looked pale and weak. The latter was wearing a snow-colored gauze skirt. Only one thought occurred to Abbie: Olivia was faking her innocence and purity.
  • Olivia lightly curved her lips as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. "You're right! It does suit me. Thank you, Gisselle."
  • When Riley saw the two, she rolled her eyes. "What luck. Why did we have to run into them, of all people?"
  • Gisselle Blackburn was on good terms with Olivia, but she and Riley were enemies. They had been going at each other's throats since they were young, and they always caused trouble for each other.
  • Gisselle was into punk fashion. She had short hair, and she also wore ear piercings. Her jeans had holes, and she wore a metal-style denim jacket. Because she dressed in a rather androgynous fashion, standing beside Olivia, they looked worlds apart.
  • Riley had completely lost interest in the shop by now, but Gisselle spotted them.
  • "Oh, look who we have here! The young lady of the Johnston Family, and the woman who seduced Mr. Henderson." Gisselle smiled coldly as she walked up to Abbie.
  • "Abbie Marshall, right? You're just a daughter of a minor branch in the Marshall Family. You should know your worth. What made you think you could seduce Olivia's man?"
  • Olivia walked over to them, tugging at Gisselle sheepishly as she glanced at Abbie. "Come on, Gisselle, stop it."
  • Gisselle glared at her in extreme hatred. "If she's bold enough to do it, why can't we say anything to her?"
  • Olivia bit her lip as tears welled up in her eyes.
  • Gisselle's heart ached for Olivia as she glared at Abbie.
  • Riley stood in front of her bestie as she rolled her eyes. "That rumor is one month old. Who still believes in that?"
  • Actually, for the past month, the rumor was still making rounds in the upper-class circle. Everyone was curious about Abbie, but for some reason, they could never meet her in person.
  • It was a rare opportunity for her to meet Abbie, so Gisselle sneered and said, "Anyway, I'm going to teach you a lesson right now."
  • She raised her hand and delivered a slap toward Abbie's face.
  • It happened too suddenly, and everyone else was stunned at the sight.
  • Wealthy young people always acted rashly. Gisselle has gone too far! Abbie is powerless! As Riley stepped forward to stop Gisselle, Abbie beat her to it.
  • Abbie grabbed Gisselle’s arm, stopping her. "Teach me a lesson, you say? Look at you!"
  • "Let go!"
  • Gisselle felt a piercing pain in her wrist. Her face turned pale as a crisp sound of bones breaking rang out. Crack.
  • "Aah!"
  • Women's terrified screams rang out in the shop.
  • Abbie lightly flung the hand away. The movement looked casual enough, but Gisselle fell backward, knocking a few racks over as she crashed to the floor.
  • "Abbie, what are you doing?!"
  • Even Olivia was startled as she hastily went forward to help Gisselle up.
  • Gisselle covered her hand, her eyes watering from the unbearable pain.
  • Riley was startled, but she chose to stand on her bestie's side. "You are the ones who started it. Serves you right for hitting Abbie."
  • "What's wrong with us hitting her? She was the one at fault for seducing Liam."
  • "Nonsense. Abbie never—"
  • Just then, a set of footsteps sounded nearby as they approached the women. A man's bitter voice slowly rang out. "What's going on?"
  • Liam had arrived.
